Smokin' Steve did my daughter's high school graduation party 4 years ago. The food was unbelievable--the best bbq I have ever had! I'll never go anywhere else!

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Hire an experienced professional with referrals. You want to work with someone you are comfortable with who pays attention to details, is easy to contact, open and up front with no surprises. You have one chance for your event to be perfect. You want to impress your guests and make them feel special. It's your gift to your loved ones!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. That a host, most likely, will not receive RSVPs from 50% of her guests, and how to plan around that.
Face it- everyone is busy! And people are more reluctant than ever to commit their precious "free/family time" before they know all of their options. Unfortunately, this means they don't commit until the last minute (rude and selfish, but realistic) Ask your caterer for tips and ways to be sure you don't over purchase for your event.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long in business, what is their specialty, who are your previous customers, who is your biggest competitors, and why should I hire you.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. What date can I commit to (as the host)?
How many people am I planning for at this point?
How much time do I want to have for my guests?
What is the primary reason I am having this event?
