I use a lot of imagination to problem solve. My designs are innovative and unusual, utilizing the esthetic qualities of different species of wood. Besides designing contemporary pieces, I also design period pieces or pieces to match the decor. I also work well with architects and interior designers. Rising to the challenge. Working with my hands as a meditation.

Michael did a beautiful job on both projects I hired him for. We had a couple of issues, but all was resolved. His work is beautiful and he is careful and cleans up after the job.I would hire him again!

I had a small bookcase that my grandpa built years ago that needed some rehabbing. Michael went above and beyond and offered to teach me some basic skills for restoring a piece that had taken some abuse over the years. He was very patient, knowledgable and fun to work with. Great finished product - I think it would make my grandpa proud.

I needed an exterior door replaced. But before that could be done, a lot of planning had to be done. It needed framing, which led to a series of things that needed to be done before the door could be hung. That's where Michael Childs' ability not only as a carpenter, but his creative thinking came in. He was able to take a job that might've stumped someone else. He was able to resolve the problem and I know a door that is hung properly. Michael Childs showed up at the time we agreed upon, and I will use his services again. Michael is an artistic woodworker and carpenter. Having a good experience, at the moment, I can't think of a thing to improve your service except I hope your craftsman is as good.

Nelkane was/is very good customer. She was involved with the work. She understood the problems. She was supportive, kindly, intelligent. She paid me promptly. When I ended up working extra hours because of the complexity of the job, she volunteered to pay me extra. You can't do better than that.

Furniture projects: repair, refinishing, installation (including Ikea type furniture and expensive Italian kitchens), design and fabrication. Winner of awards at the county and state level from 2005 to 2009, including first prize in woodworking, 2008 California State Fair.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Custom woodworking takes longer than standardized woodworking or cabinetmaking. Each job is unique with its own set of problems and solutions. Customer involvement is preferred, whether it's just questions or hands-on.
