Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Most common jobs I work are private home parties, to celebrate a birthday, wedding, or other family event.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How did I learn to make drinks? I learned by watching the cute bartenders make drinks for myself and my friends, then as a cocktail server, I learned what goes in the drinks, then as a bartender, I learned how to make the best drinks with professional bartenders at my side. I love crafting a delicious concoction and watching someone enjoy it, like it's filled with chocolate syrup!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. My favorite story: I had a customer who tipped me $100 to let him make his own drink, and make me watch him make it. The next time he came to get the drink, I had it ready for him. We got along great, and he was pleased with my ability to learn his drink so well. I made a good impression, and all I had to do was accept his generocity to do it. I like learning, and I don't mind a customer who knows what his drink is, and prefers to have it his way. The drink by the way was a gin gimlet with extra lime juice!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. My experience includes over 20 years in hospitality, with restaurant and fine dining food server, cocktail service, hostess, and bartender. I have served food and beverages to customers at all different times of day, from breakfast, lunch, happy hour, dinner, dinner cruise, late happy hour, and after hours. Themes including: Birthday, wedding ceremony/reception, bar/batmitsva, Quincinera, safari, tropical, Wild West, Valentines, New Years Eve and Halloween.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I like to learn how to make new drinks and even create new drinks for my customers. The latest creation: The Babysitter: a tall pineapple juice over ice, with a splash of vodka!
