Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Meet the trainer in person and interview 2 or 3 even if you have a referral from someone you trust.

Your relationship with the trainer is just as important as your dogs relationship with the trainer.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. That claiming to be a dog trainer is easy, there are no government certifications for dog trainers. Many of the certifications claimed by dog trainers can be simply had by paying your money to join the organization. Always look for trainers that actually have competed and achieved titles on their dogs in sports that are relevant to your training needs.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. I ask every potential client why do they feel the need to spend money on having their dog trained.

Answering this question will help them explain to you what they are actually trying to achieve with their dog.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Experience! Experience! Experience!

With over 35 years of training all types of dogs you learn a lot.

You learn that every dog is different and has to be trained based on that dogs personality.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. As a child wasn't allowed to have a dog in my apartment complex. So started volunteering at the SPCA, from there started working as an apprentice at a dog training school for 6 years until I went off to college.
