Introduction: Seeing a student of any age or level have an "aha" moment is the most rewarding experience for me. Of course, having a student play well in a competition or performance is tremendously satisfying but watching a student grasp a concept and understand its application remains the best reward.

Jamie has been my piano instructor for almost 20 years, and I would highly recommend her for students of all ages. She is an excellent teacher, who takes a very customized, individualized approach to teaching her students. In a typical recital, you would never hear the same song played by two or more students, which is a testament to the time and energy she puts into each student, allowing each student to shine on his/her own terms.

After trying several other piano teachers, we were so happy to find Jamie Del Priore. While many teachers seem to be able to teach dexterity, Jamie is the first we've found who teaches musicianship as well. Her students play music rather than notes. She successfully teaches techniques that bring out the beauty and emotive qualities of a piece not just the athleticism. She also backs up everything with solid theory and her own sight-reading techniques. Plus both children and adult students love her. I highly reccommend her as a teacher.

Jamie is the best teacher I have ever had. If something is too difficult, she knows how to break it down to make it accessible. And some of her techniques, such as sight reading, are unique to her. Everyone going to her will learn to read music very well, and become an excellent musician if they follow her instructions and practice. I am so glad I found her!

We feel lucky to have her as my kid's first piano teacher. She is very professional and very good at working with kids. She teaches musicianship, not just piano techniques. My son is in first grade and he loves Jamie's piano lessons. I would definitely recommend her to other kids.

It's been a privilege to have taken lessons under Jamie. I have had 3-4 piano teachers so far - and she's been the best among them - in my humble opinion. She's a very competent , understanding, knowledgeable and a patient teacher. I really admire her command over the piano , her way of interpreting musical pieces and also the way she tries to help a student to understand a piece. Each day I wish that I had some more time to stay back in the US - and be able to continue my piano lessons under her. Thank you Jamie - may God bless you!!! Regards Anand

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

There is no guarantee that a pianist who is an outstanding performer is also an outstanding teacher. Ask a potential teacher about their educational background, years of experience and teaching style. Also, ask what elements are provided in the lesson. There should be multiple answers to this question because there is an inter-relationship between various aspects of musical training. These include: technique--learning how to use the body efficiently to "get around the keyboard;" music theory--understanding how music is put together (composition) in order to understand and recognize patterns; sight-reading--developing the ability to read and perform music one has not previously seen and repertoire--the styles and types of pieces. These elements are all crucial and enhance overall learning experience.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I love getting transfer students because they have experiences with other teachers. These students have a greater appreciation and recognition between a good, great or outstanding teacher.
