FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There is no guarantee that a pianist who is an outstanding performer is also an outstanding teacher. Ask a potential teacher about their educational background, years of experience and teaching style. Also, ask what elements are provided in the lesson. There should be multiple answers to this question because there is an inter-relationship between various aspects of musical training. These include: technique--learning how to use the body efficiently to "get around the keyboard;" music theory--understanding how music is put together (composition) in order to understand and recognize patterns; sight-reading--developing the ability to read and perform music one has not previously seen and repertoire--the styles and types of pieces. These elements are all crucial and enhance overall learning experience.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
I love getting transfer students because they have experiences with other teachers. These students have a greater appreciation and recognition between a good, great or outstanding teacher.
