Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Never be afraid to ask the questions you want answers to. It's important to find the right fit when you are working with a therapist. When you feel you have the right match, the work can really begin.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. There are many different kinds of therapy and not all types work for all people. Some people want to explore issues in their past and some want to start where they are today. Be sure to ask your potential therapist 'what their orientation is' and then ask them to define what that means specifically for you.
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. As referenced above, always ask what type of therapy your potential therapist practices. Ask what types of issues they specialize in and what types of clients they see (Ie. Individuals, couples, children etc). Always be sure to ask about their general office policies, rules on confidentiality, fees etc.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Therapy is a commitment of time, energy and money. You get the most out of it when you are ready and willing to take what is discussed inside of session and apply it outside of session everyday. Until you are ready to do that, you shouldn't pursue treatment because it will be a waste of your time. If you are ready, however, you will have just taken one step closer to improving your self and your life.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. I love that I get to take part in the process of change and growth for those that I work with. Seeing people that are committed to change is inspirational and its a privilege to be asked to participate in their successes.
