Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. ALWAYS hire a licensed contractor. If you don't you will have absolutely NO recourse if they run off with your money, or stop answering their phone. Make sure to always look at actual current work, a good Contractor who does good work will be happy to show it off, they will provide you with local customers referrals (and make sure you call), be careful of Contractors who make excuses or give you the run-around. The old saying is usually true, "you get what you pay for", if a price seems too good to be true, it usually means you will get sub-standard work, or worse, no work at all. Three things to do: 1) Make sure they are licensed 2) View their work 3) Talk to a former customer. Following this three step process will go a long way to making sure you are happy with your Contractor.
