Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Make sure you know what you want before you call for a bid, then when you get bids, compare apples to apples. Don't be afraid to ask how you can cut costs, and always discuss your budget.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Cooperating with your contractor and doing your side of the job makes it easier and quicker to get the work done. Always offer to pay for any extras you ask him to do - sometimes he'll give you a discount!
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Make sure he's licensed. bonded, insured, and willing to give references.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Know your budget! Know your basic design ideas, and know where you can compromise when you realize gold plated toilet seats are outside your budget. A contractor can always help you help yourself. You have to be willing to let him know where you can compromise, and how much compromising you need to do. Sometimes it's only a matter of changing cabinet mfgs or getting tile instead of travertine.
