FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private lessons: $60 for an hour. Added cost for travel. Board & Train: $400 a week. Offer it in two weeks then send dog home for a week to keep owners up to pace with training.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I recieved my Dog Training Accrediation back in 2008. In 2010 to 2012 I apprenticed with an accomplished pet dog and protection spot trainer in San Fransisco. Currently I am apprenticing with a pet dog and police k9 trainer in the Galt area. I help her with training her competition dogs and any board and train dogs that come in. I am always coming home with something new to tell an owner or work on in classes. Along with apprenticeships I also read almost any training book I can get my hands on and watch numerous training videos.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always enjoyed training my own animals as a kid. I started with a Golden Retriever mix that my mom got as a puppy the month I was born and we were together till we turned 17. She was my best friend and would do anything I asked of her. Then when I was 14 I got my first horse. She was not fully trained when I bought her so I had to learn a lot in order to make her fun and safe to ride. Though all of that training we build an amazing bond. Its an undesirable feeling when you have a 1000 lb animal who will almost dance with you off lead in the arena for fun.
