I needed several short pieces written about my business and bright, engaging biographies about my partners. In addition, existing content on my website and various collateral was out of date and, in my estimation, dull and poorly written. Mr. Crumpacker provided me with detailed outlines regarding how he thought the material could be improved and also suggested a variety of truly outstanding story lines moving forward. Total, he worked on 17 pieces and told me he'd have everything completed in three weeks. He delivered in 16 days. And it was great. It was clean and didn't need any editing. John edited my PhD application essays-Statement of Purpose and Personal History statement, besides my resume. John's work was amiably outstanding. He listens not just to reply you, but to understand you as much as he can. He sat down with me for a coffee and discussed how he would edit my essays to further improvement. Whenever I sent him mails regarding any questions or corrections, he immediately replied with clear, detailed explanations. I have experience editing my essays with some editors now, but let me tell you John was the first person that suggested that we meet to discuss my expectations re. essays and resume. My essays looked so much better from the perviously edited version. He edited both syntactically to clear the mess and rhetorically to uplift the quality of my essays. I could not have asked more. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I've been going with $40 per hour for some time now. I believe that is a reasonable rate for a professional with my proven experience.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I try to get to know them, either in person or over the phone. As a former newspaper journalist, I essentially interview new clients to get a feel for their needs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have bachelor's degree in English from UC Berkeley and I worked in the newspaper industry for 36-plus years on a wide variety of writing and editing assignments, often under deadline pressure.
