Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Ask how familiar the attorney is with your specific legal issue and how many similar cases they have handled. Provide them with all relevant documents so they can best advise you about your situation and answer your questions. Ask friends, relatives and co-workers for referrals and references. Interview the attorney and determine if you are comfortable with them before you make a decision.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The attorney's approach to cases; i.e. do they try to find the most cost-effective way to attain the client's goals; do they have a history of creating instead of solving problems; are they able to advocate for you and also work cooperatively with the opposing party and counsel to achieve he best result for you. How do other attorneys and the local judges view your attorney and the opposing party's attorney? How many other cases the attorney has and how much time they have to devote to my case?

A. Is the attorney licensed in California?
How long has the attorney been practicing in this county?
How much experience do they have in this particular area of law?
