- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was hired as the head dog trainer at a private grooming salon in West Hollywood. I was asked to bathe dogs in the salon when I wasn’t training. I fell in love with the endless ways you could be creative as a groomer and find functional and fashionable ways to trim a dogs hair !
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Please have an open mind when you share your style idea of the cut you would like. Not every dog looks good with the same haircut style due to the different body structure and coat type. Have photos of the haircut style you would like and be open to suggestions.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Has the dog(s) ever been groomed before and if so, how often (every 2 weeks, once a month, every 6 weeks, etc)? Does your dog have any allergies or special conditions you know of ( seizures, heart murmurs, hear attacks, cataracts, etc.)? Is your dog on any medication? If so, do you have a signed note from a vet saying your dog is ok to be groomed while on medication ? Can your dog stand for long periods of time? What age and coat type is your dog? Do you brush your dog regularly?
