Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I perform lots of deep tissue work, which incidentally, is soothing - not painful. I use the forearm to apply heavy pressure while I use my elbow artfully and sparingly. I do not dig my elbow in and tear your tissue.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I'm very skilled at knowing what pressure to use where because I can feel the condition of the muscles I'm working on. But even so, you should always speak up if you are experiencing too much pressure. Massage should be enjoyable, not painful. Also, when I work on any tight areas, the more deep breathing you do, the more your body lets me in. I cannot work on tight muscles effectively unless you breathe.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I'm fascinated with the mind-body connection and our ability to self-heal.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. "What is a healing session like?"

A healing session is performed with the client laying face up on a comfortable heated massage table with sheep skin padding.

During a healing, the practitioner acts as a channel between the Universal Energy Field and the Human Energy Field to clear, charge, fill, balance and restructure the client’s chakras and auric bodies.

From the client’s perspective, the simplest of sessions might be experienced as the practitioner using a sequence of hand positions resting on or hovering above their joints and chakras. Though the work is subtle, some clients may feel warmth, vibration, cloud like sensation or receive visions while their session is in progress. Others may simply feel rested or rejuvenated afterwards. The work is deeply relaxing and clients often go into the alpha state or even find themselves sleeping.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I just performed a Chinese Fire Cupping on a client the other day. She had been under the weather and was beginning to heal but was still suffering from congestion - so we added onto her massage a 30 minute cupping session. That's all it took. I was very conservative in my cupping and created movement along the meridians so as to promote soothing and avoid bruising. Her sinuses starting clearing right away. She called the following day to say she felt like a million bucks!

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. All of my massage is professional and therapeutic.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. The company I was working for, at the time, gave us one complimentary full body massage per month as a health benefit. As soon as I had my first massage I was hooked! Soon afterwards I began attending massage school.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. Yes. I watch new videos, attend workshops, and conduct Spa research to keep abreast of the latest treatments.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. I can't really call age-old Universal Laws new developments but the global awareness of them is. What excites me is the ability to manifest instant healing or even gradual healing. I have done both on numerous occasions and provide Law of Attraction coaching to those who are interested.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Very simple pricing system. $80 cash per hour. $40 cash for each additional half hour.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Go to a great school!
