Introduction: I have a passion for teaching, and am a successful performer as well. I pride myself on making lessons fun as well as informative. I teach the 'whole musician'. We of course work on the important stuff, like tone, breathing, technique and general musicality. But we also spend a great deal of time talking about how to practice a piece. I have found that effective practice makes for a much more successful outcome! Students find they can practice less amounts of time to achieve the better result. Students that take virtual lessons with me also get group classes for FREE!!! Yes music theory, music history, flute studio class, and virtual recitals! I also incorporate singing into lessons (don't be scared!). The voice is our first form of communication, and subtle musical nuances are often felt and heard through the voice- which can be translated into the flute. As a performer myself I play a wide variety of styles. My last album debuted on the Billboards top 10, at #3. My true passion is getting a student to really enjoy music. Each lesson is custom tailored to the individual. I am finding lots of creative techniques and resources to use online!

My daughter wanted to take flute lessons when she was 8, and we were able to sign up for lessons with Monica. It’s been a year so far, including in-person and distance learning lessons with her, and we have absolutely loved all of them. Monica is patient, respectful, and is an incredibly talented teacher. She is a true professional and such a gem. My daughter has anxiety and has clashed with previous instructors because of it, but Monica so smoothly transitions her through her anxious moments that they’re back to playing music in no time. The level of instruction is also stellar, and my daughter has learned SO MUCH in just a year, and she continues to feel inspired to play! Needless to say we highly recommend Monica!!!

I have had 4 flute teachers throughout my life, and Monica has probably been the best. Monica provides a great mix of coaching, artistic guidance, and technical tips. She is quick at spotting aspects of your playing that may be holding you back so that you can course correct, and also good at helping you accentuate positive aspects of your playing so that you can hone your playing style. Monica also knows way more tips and tricks about flute playing than I ever knew existed, from alternate fingerings to ways of leveraging technology to help you practice and perform. Above all, Monica herself is a wonderful player who has incredible passion and curiosity, and if you are looking for someone to help you or a friend/family member with their musical journey Monica would be an amazing choice.

Monica is extremely talented and knowledgeable but so down to earth. Always patient, Monica is a problem solver and will work with you on whatever difficulty you may be experiencing from fingering issues to breath control (and those challenging high notes.) As an adult student, I thoroughly enjoy my flute lessons with Monica whether in person or online in real time. She is always positive and encouraging and a pleasure to work with.

Monica is a fabulous flute teacher and my daughter has improved greatly under her guidance. She goes the extra mile to make the experience a positive one for students - such as planning recitals so families can share in their progress. She also has adapted really well to COVID-19 and continued to keep students engaged and learning. Highly recommend her if you are looking for a flute instructor.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer trial lessons to make sure we are a good fit. All virtul lessons include group classes. Classes such as theory, music history, studio class, ect. I also include virtual recitals!
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
It is individualized. I always start by asking what the goals of the student are. What challanges they are experieincing. Where they feel like their strenghths are. What are theire favorite pieces. Then I explain how I work, and how we can best work together- having fun and making progress in thier individual music goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a B.A from Eastman School of Music and have studied with some of the best teachers in the world. I have won awards, and released 5 CD's of my own compositions. My music is programed on Sirus XM, airlines, Comcast On Demand, and many anolag radio stations.
