FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge $40/hr for 1-1 in-person tutoring. Zoom, which is now a very popular and convenient option, is $35/hr. We always allow a free consultation/first session to "try before you buy." This makes 5 hours cost $32/hr for in person and $28/hr for online tutoring essentially.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I initially talk with the parent about the needs of their student over the phone. Based on my knowledge of my coaches' backgrounds, I reach out to the best-fit coach and set them up with the student. The coach visits the family and performs an initial, free consultation and assessment to verify that the match will work. Following the initial consultation and signing of a tutoring contract (no prepayment necessary except for Skype), the coach continues to meet with the student for as many sessions as deemed necessary. There can be cancellation at any time, but typically, students receive help for a full semester minimum.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am pursuing a Master's Degree in Mathematics at the University of Northern Colorado. In May 2018, I recieved my Master's degree in Secondary Math Education. I teach 9th-12th grade math at an alternative high school in Nederland. Prior to starting Raising The Bar, I received all three levels of the CRLA Tutoring Certification. I often share the best teaching strategies to my staff so they can help students in the best ways possible.
