FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Colorado is one of the few states that doesn't require continuing education to renew their state license. I've completed many hours of continuing education over the years and yes, I still do.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had been giving neck rubs and back rubs since I was a little girl. My step mother worked for a chiropractor and then my brother went to chiropractic college. I liked the more non-traditional health care paradigm. When I was 22 I worked for a chiropractor as an assistant and I learned so much and loved it. A friend invited me to take some night classes with her at a community college and I was reminded of how much I love to learn. A career counselor asked me what my favorite job had been and when I said working with a chiropractor she suggested Massage Therapy. This was in 1990 and massage, as we know it, was in it's infancy as far as a profession goes. The next week I heard of Utah College of Massage Therapy in Salt Lake City. Six months later I was taking an introductory class and a month later I started school... All without ever having had a massage before!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Many people love their feet worked on and I Love reflexology. I would say I specialize in hips and low back pain, shoulder/neck work and TMJ dysfunction. While I say this please keep in mind that the whole body works together and I search for the cause of the imbalances and not just address the pain they are feeling. Imbalances in the feet can cause TMJ dysfunction, etc.
