FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am continuously studying and advancing my understanding of the profession, building techniques and "best practices". At present, we are members of the AIA, HBA (emeritus), and the Boulder Green Building Guild - all of which provide Continuing Education. The state of Colorado requires 18 credits of education over 2 years, while the AIA requires 16 credits per year to sustain membership. We also keep abreast of regulatory requirements by attending workshops on building and energy codes, building science, new emerging provisions such as energy testing, rating and building commissioning.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of our work is in the residential arena; yet there is great diversity within that sphere - for instance, we provide renovation, remodeling and addition consultation to homeowners, design market-wise spec projects for builders, and luxury residences for private clients. We also design multifamily buildings and site developments, and commercial structures such as restaurants, medical facilities, office and industrial buildings and tenant finish for these.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Our firm looks at architectural services with a broad-scope approach. We advise anyone seeking to embark upon a lifestyle or business investment to reflect upon and translate the goals they are seeking to the service provider(s). The more a professional is able to understand about the client, the better focused meetings and outcomes will be. We are often called upon to give feedback with regard to site selection, programming, and budgetary constraints. The providers response to those issues should be reviewed and investigated, and a level of comfort established between the two parties prior to proceeding.
