Claudia designed my website from beginning to end. The graphics were exceptional, showing what we were all about before reading any of our content. She did a couple adjustments I needed and never took over the time stated. When I decided I needed a specialty script wrote for a specific area after the adjustments, Claudia pulled through with a wonderful script for a fraction of the cost other companies asked. When the script she wrote was delivered, she spent time with me to make sure I knew how to use it properly.

If you want a professional 'top-notch' website, Claudia aka Sunflowers and Seagulls Promotional Services should be the first designer you contact. You're needs will be met by this company!

    Hi There,

Sunflowers and Seagulls is a professionally run service with a very smart lady directing the show. I always have gotten exactly what I want, and have seen artwork and effort put in, unlike many even larger organizations. Claudia has always shown a high degree of professionalism, and understanding of what her clients wants were and has been able to balance that to what the true needs are to get something that works, at the right price. A sensitive balance for most, and reliably achieved here.

I have had the privilege of working with Claudia Beck for two years. She has provided me with fantastic custom logos and an entire automated affiliate program web presence. Her artistic ability is amazing and her grasp of the complexities of web design, web graphics and advanced web applications is impressive. Claudia is a joy to work with; she is prompt, courteous and skilled in creative problem-solving. It is very unusual to find someone whose creative and graphic talents are equal to their technical know how.

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Over the last several years, the demand for the types of graphic design services I provide to my clients has evolved considerably. This world of technology and air of conservation and living green that we are now in the midst of has massively reduced requests for print media such as brochures, flyers and even business cards.

------ More and more I provide my clients with a variety of types of website setup, design and even management. From corporate identity websites, blogs and Twitter profiles to membership sites, traffic exchanges and on-demand printing websites.

------ All of the advertising projects I work on anymore are web-based: splash and postcard pages and banner ads.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. To businesses looking to hire a graphic designer? I cannot emphasize enough -- be sure to look at the potential designer's own materials for which you are going to hire them for.

------ Need a corporate identity package? Ask to see their logo, stationery and business card. Need a website? Be sure to get their URL and dial it up.

------ Make sure they represent themselves as a knowledgeable professional in a unique manner with skillfully presented promotions of their own which include correct spelling, creativity and "tidiness".

------ Also inquire about their customer service and other policies and ask for testimonials, portfolio and other credentials such as professional memberships.

------ Be sure to view any social media pages they may have live and online, particularly Facebook and Twitter. There content on these types of sites will speak volumes about themselves.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. My work stands out from other graphic designers because it is very creative, unique, artsy and out-of-the-box. I do not cookie-cutter any of my work, nor do I copycat the current design trends that so many designers, especially young and inexperienced ones tend to do. ------ I do NOT design to suit my own tastes and desires, I DO create for the client, for the project, for the industry and/or product and -- for the end result. ------ Additionally, my file production and vendor rapport help make hiring me a complete package for all of my clients.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. That owning a graphics software package -- does not -- make a graphic designer. Just as owning a scalpel does not make a person a surgeon. ------

That the amount of time it truly takes to create a beautiful, effective design for any project can be lengthy. ------

That they need a graphic designer not simply to plug in a cool looking icon into a space, but to create an "atmosphere" that attracts, retains and compels its viewers. ------

And finally, that the computer equipment and software it takes to create the job a client really needs is not inexpensive and needs to be updated on a continuing basis in order to produce quality work.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. I would advise anyone wanting a career as a graphic designer to make sure that in their education, they get more than just computer classes. ------

That they be sure they get "real" design, art, creative-teaching classes where they learn about handling space, colors, fonts and producing results from manipulating these elements correctly. ------

That they also are prepared to be a people-person where they can listen to others and absorb and predict what they want and what their business needs.
