A. At the Sollohub School of Music, we believe in customized instruction, tailoring the lessons according to the students interests and goals. “One size does not fit all.” We only offer one-on-one instruction, having seen how much more beneficial it is over group lessons. In a group setting, everyone tends to be frustrated, feeling things are moving too quickly or too slowly, as well as not necessarily enjoying the material. Private instruction provides the direction needed to make learning an instrument fun, the attention to ensure the student progresses as quickly as possible, and the personal interaction to accomodate the students interests.
We do not discriminate against any genre/type of music and are not “music snobs.” If music inspires, puts a smile on your face, calms the mind, takes you on a journey, affects you in some way, then it is doing what it should. So whether you love rock, country, classical, heavy metal, blues, jazz, pop, rap, or any other kind of music, we are more than happy to help you.
We believe in the rapport between teacher and student, and only employ the best, most personable, enjoyable, and patient teachers around. But don't take our word on it, we offer a FREE INTRODUCTORY LESSON so you can judge for yourself.
A. We love that we get to be such a big, positive, and life-changing part of peoples Music is a part of the daily experience, for many of us, one that we could not live without. It is a source for personal inspiration and inner reflection, as well as an invaluable social glue that strenghtens the bonds between friends and strangers alike. The benefits of studying an instrument are innumerable:
■Confidence
■Discipline
■Improved memory, motor skills, and focus
■Mental workout, spiritually enriching, emotional outlet
■Great social activity, whether playing in a band or by the campfire
■Feeling of accomplishment as we progress
■Although we think of music as something that comes from the heart, it uses the same temporal and spatial reasoning that underlies math and engineering
Studying an instrument deepens our musical experience. The more we know about music, the more we hear in music.
lives. Many of our students say it has become the best part of their life.
