Mr. Cruz provided me with a proposal for all the concrete at my house (pool deck, back porch, garage, driveway and front porch). He said the proposal would provide the cost of each individual section and also a total price which would be very reasonable if I were to agree to have all the work done at once. Based on the proposal, I decided to have all of the work done. After he completed my pool deck and back porch, which he did in a very timely fashion, he informed me that his daughter had incorrectly added the total cost on the proposal (which I thought was the reasonable price) and that he would require an additional $3000, not included in the proposal, to complete the total job. I told him I could not afford that additional amount and that I would not be able to proceed with any additional concrete work. I requested that he please honor his promise to come back and put in the concrete insets for the pool cover and also look at several slabs of concrete he laid next to the pool which seemed too deeply angled/inclined toward the house, and finish the clean up. He told me he would honor all of the above and call me and come over in approximately two days. That would have been the beginning of September 2013. I have never heard back from Mr. Cruz. I have paid another individual over $200 to replace the concrete insets for the pool cover, I have done my own clean up and I have paid someone to haul off the wood that was left here in my backyard. Shortly after my last conversation with Mr. Cruz, one of the new concrete slabs next to the pool developed a crack through the entire width of the slab. I never had an opportunity to let Mr. Cruz know about this. I am very, very disappointed that this experience turned into a negative one. I could have lived with the "mistake" in the proposal. However, not honoring what I was told would be honored is very disappointing to me. My pool also developed a leak right after the concrete was done around it. However, as of this time, I have no proof that the leak is due to the concrete work. The timing though sure makes me wonder. Mr. Cruz was scheduled to do my across the street neighbor's driveway, and my neighbor has never heard from him either.
