FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I generally charge an hourly rate for short-term projects. But to provide an estimate of how many hours your project will require we really need to talk because there are so many things that can affect that. For clients who are interested in on-going services (e.g. monthly bookkeeping, etc.) I generally try to find a flat monthly fee. This allows you to budget my fees into your plans and it allows me to spend extra time digging in on issues without worrying about whether or not I am going over your expected price.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I fell into the tax and accounting field purely by accident, but found that it came very naturally to me. I've always been good at researching and understanding complex issues, and I've always been a numbers person -- in fact, my Grandmother was the 2nd female CPA ever licensed by the State of West Virginia. I guess it's in my genes! Really, though, the numbers are not nearly as interesting as the people that I work with. What has kept me in this line of work is the many people whose lives I get to learn about and my ability to help them understand and use the law to their advantage.
