Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Right now in today's economy we have been doing mostly commercial, tenant finish, retail, and remodel work. We still do a considerable amount of residential work as well. We are a full service drywall company so we are prepared to do all scopes of work.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be sure they know and understand each phase, hang, tape, and, texture. Today is a very specialized trade. some may have more experience in one or the other. It's crucial to know and understand every detail of each phase. 33 years experience I've had time to learn all phases, and know how it should be done!!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The main thing is you don't want to cut corners no matter what. You can't let yourself get away with anything. In the end it will come back on you and bite like an alligator!!

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. We generally can't give hard numbers over the phone. We need to physically see the job to provide the customer with accurate and hard quotes. At that time we generally discuss and answer questions about the details mentioned here, so everyone is on the same page.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We have been doing drywall a long time not much surprises us. Service and quality has always been our motto. If you don't have time to do it right the first time....when will you have time?

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy working with people I think the most. Building working and lasting relationships, I think has been the key to our being in business so long.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Not in particular. We get a lot of funny reactions when people see us walking on stilts, or they see you working on the walls and they say " can you do that on the ceiling too?"

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Drywall is done in phases, hang, tape, texture, unless it goes smooth. It is a process and takes time on each phase, and each phase deserves it's own justice to produce a quality and professional job. You just don't learn that over night.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Usually we can get enough information over the phone to determine weather the scope of work discussed is a good fit for both parties concerned.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. We just finished a job downtown on 14th and Stout, a wine bistro which was very detailed and presented us with some challenges, but we are always up for a good challenge!

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I think the main thing is to keep a good mix of old school experience with young and new automation through out and that way you tend to stay fresh in all aspect of the trade.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. The biggest and latest development is the anti-mold and water resistant type sheetrock available. We do our best to stay abreast with these developments seeing it is vital to our particular trade.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. I mentioned earlier the wine bistro downtown. It was very detailed and involved a lot of state of the art technology, such as floating ceilings and fancy light details which took a lot of time working with other trades. We still finished in about three weeks time to meet the scheduled date discussed.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Our pricing system pricing system is pretty simple, unless there is a lot of details, and then we will line item each detail if needed for budget purposes or just for a more clear understanding.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Be patient it is a full service trade. It generally takes about four years to learn the apprenticeship. After that you learn to apply what you have learned previously. So it takes time to become a tradesman.
