- How did you get started doing this type of work?
We actually began as a carpet cleaning company. In fact, I personally have about fifteen years of experience cleaning carpets, along with multiple IICRC certifications. So why the change of focus to wood floors? For one thing, we actually have already been providing wood floor care as one of our services. However, it was just one of about eight different services. Most companies in the service industry tend to add so many services that they end up going a mile wide and an inch deep. And often times, quality and expertise ends up suffering. So I wanted to take a different approach to our business. Rather than running in all different directions, I decided to focus on two main things. The first is wood floor preservation. And the second is another service that I will share with you soon. If you still have a need for the other services, then we can still provide them to you through the best subcontractors in the Denver area. There are really two main reasons that I have decided to focus on wood floor preservation. First, the demand for wood floor care is very high, and rapidly growing. Most people today are replacing their carpets with wood. Yet, there seems to be alot of fear and confusion over how to best care for wood floors. And the result has been alot of damaged wood, and an increase in allergen exposure. Second, the supply of wood floor care companies is very low. There are hundreds of carpet cleaners in the Denver area. But there are very few full wood care providers. So with such a growing need for excellence and trust in the wood floor industry, what better match then a company that settles for nothing short of their name.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We recently were contacted by a local apartment complex that had put VCT wax on their wood floors. Over time, the wax began to peel, chip, and yellow. We had to strip all of the wax off in order for the new finish to bond, yet with enough care not to damage the floors. We sent a sample of the existing wax finish to our chemist in order to confirm our assessment and plan. And we also tested a portion of the floor in order to make sure that our plan would work. In the end, the property manager said that the floor looked better than new.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Many people today are pulling up their carpets in order to replace them with hardwood floors. Yet, most homeowners and commercial property managers are uncertain and oftentimes fearful over how to properly maintain and preserve their wood floors.
