Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Tilde Design Studio is very well versed in all aspects of Interior Design. With a rare foundation in architecture and landscape design, Stephen has a great understanding of all aspects of a residential project. This brings a creative yet common sense mentality to the ideas that come forth for your project. Additionally, Stephen has been designing furniture for over 15 years - for both his clients and manufacturers. This allows the opportunity to have something designed specifically for you, in materials and finishes that work perfectly for you. While launching the eco-friendly furniture line, Tilde Furniture, an incredible amount of research was done on products that are healthy for both you and the environment. This knowledge is integral to conversations about the materials that go in to our customer's homes.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. This business is built on relationships. I love to design with the well being of my clients in mind. This includes basic style preferences, and goes all the way through creating spaces that nurture their very personal needs. In the end, their home gives solace and pleasure to all those who live in it, as well as those who visit.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Can we combine item A with item B? As long as it fits within a certain level of formality, we enjoy creating eclectic spaces that have lasting interest.
What is the typical time frame for furniture? If it's custom, we tend to allow 6-10 weeks to manufacture a piece. If it's coming from Europe, 12 is more in line.
Have you designed in the look that I want for my home? Every project is foremost about our client. Therefore, it is likely that we will create a look for you that is totally different than what we've done for other clients. We are well-versed in the many styles and periods of Interior Design, and are used to working outside of the comfort zone to provide a space that you will love.
