Introduction: I think I've been better prepared than most to try cases and have successfully tried more cases than many attorneys. During law school I worked for a trial judge as a bailiff and a law clerk and participated in over a hundred felony jury trials, most of which I carefully observed. After graduating from law school I worked first for a Federal judge and then for a rural Colorado District Attorney's office where I started out in the deep end and got first hand felony trial experience. I have been handling a wide variety of criminal defense matters ever since, for some 26 years. The unpredictability, Preparing a defense often involves in interdisciplinary approach. Experts from different fields can lend helpful viewpoints in difficult to predict ways. My interdisciplinary education prior to law school has proved very helpful. I continue to read and study in a wide variety of areas.

Tom Blumenthal was very helpful with my case. He went out of his way in many phone calls and e-mails with me and provided efficient, professional and timely assistance. I couldn't be happier with him.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

During grade school I read transcripts of Clarence Darrow's closing arguments in death penalty cases. He spoke to those juries with such simplicity and heart. He never lost a client to the death penalty and he made me burn with the same ambition.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Leave yourself enough time to interview prospective attorneys. Listen carefully to your own inner reactions to anyone you interview. Make sure it feels right to you and that the person you settle on has the preparation and experience and demeanor they'll need to best help you.
