Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. I most commonly work with startup businesses and small businesses with fewer than 20 employees. I enjoy working with individuals getting started as well as established businesses looking for a re-design. My favorite jobs are when my clients vision guide my creative insight, and together we come up with something special!
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. I have worked in several industries and have many gifts that I am grateful for each day. Another way to say this: I am good at a lot of different things.
Creatively, I have a natural eye for what looks good. This shows in my design, photographs, and video samples. I am skilled at creating specific moods and tones to suit your needs.
I also offer something rare when it comes to IT people: people skills! I have a background in education and counseling and that means that I know how to listen and ask the right questions to make sure that your experience working with Surya Designs takes you in exactly the direction that you want to move in.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Website design (and the huge box of other tools and skills that I bring to my business) has given me a sense of freedom and creative expression that I have rarely experienced in the past. I really like to meet new people and build working relationships with them. I enjoy being able to work in remote locations, and setting my schedule to best meet my workload and match the needs of my personal life.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. "What services do you provide?"
I provide everything you will need to end up with a website that is aesthetically pleasing, easy to navigate, and intuitive for the end-user. These services include full-design, planning, building and coding, photography and photo manipulation, and videography.
It's fun! Surya Designs has given me a great reason to further my photography skills. I use a professional Canon dSLR camera body, and that means you get quality results!
Adding a professional photograph to your website provides an element that will add depth and draw attention. Whether it be a natural scenic background, a product image, or a professional portrait, the benefits of a good photograph are clear.
A well-produced video can better illustrate the mission of your business. A website, at its most basic, is a flat, brochure-like image that the viewer probably doesn't have a lot of interaction with. Adding a video adds a layer of depth that draws the viewer in.
A video can help tell a story. Why do you do what you do? What services do you offer? Who are you? Where do you do it all? I think that's why YouTube is so amazingly popular: it tells stories from all over the world.
A commercial. A video introduction. A compilation set to music to evoke a mood or feeling. These are a few ideas. What are yours?
"What is your time-frame from start to end?"
This depends on how many other projects I am working on and how complex your website will be. I can generally do basic layout and site design in a week or less. Adding complexity adds to the time needed. Luckily, I am very passionate about my work and don't mind working late hours to get things rolling!
I will directly with you to make sure that your website is complete, fully tested, and online very quickly!
what my time-frame for job completion looks like, and what they can expect in terms of cost. I
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I got into my line of work because I found myself in the throws of "unemployment." It's true what people are saying about having trouble finding work. There isn't a whole lot out there right now! I decided, after months of looking for work, to set my fears aside and start my own business. It's one of the best decisions that I have ever made!
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. A recent job that I'm most proud of is actually one that I am still working on. Actually, we're in the early phases of site implementation at the time of this writing. Green Light Grow is currently being built, and I have the pleasure of working with an old friend to design his web presence. Green Light Grow will be an online community that will focus on health and wellness and natural foods. I am excited to be a part of this, since it will make people healthier and happier and create a lot of good in the world.
