Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. I would make sure the dog trainer you are looking for has been in business more than a few years. I have been training dogs for 35 years. I would, also, make sure that the trainer has worked many types of temperaments and breeds of dogs. Each breed or mixed breed has general characteristics that expert trainers need to be aware of when shaping behavior.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I would make sure the trainer has a complete understanding of operant conditioning and how to effectively apply it to dogs.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. How long have you been in business? Do you have references? Have you successfully competed? Have you helped others successfully compete? Do you have videos of your own dogs working?
