Acoustical Home Solutions provided many services for me including a home theater, whole house audio, as well as a central vacuum system. The whole house audio and central vacuum had to be retro fitted. They explained to me up front what needed to be done and also told me that I may expect to have a few drywall repairs. In the end, they came well within my budget and I did not require any drywall repairs! The home theater system was very competitive in price and exceeded the value of other bids I received from other companies. I am very pleased with the quality of work and cleanliness when the work was completed!
    I would definitely recommend them!

Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. TV Installation. We are the service provider for several companies in the Denver Metro area to install Flat panel TV's in all difference situations. We feel that we are the Metro areas premier installtion company and we are the home of the "Works" Install a complete package for the person that wants a TV wall mounted.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look at there track record of things that they provide and get referals to see how they did. If you are a company that is on the up and up you should have no problem providing referals and pictures of the work that you have done. Check out companies like Angies List or if they have a Website they should have customers that have provided positive feedback for there work.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. How we are able to get wiring into homes without damage to walls or structure.
We have the tools that make it possible for us to put wiring in places that you thought could not be done. Knolledge of the way homes are built is key to letting a customer know if it can be done. We have made believers out of customers for just that reason and still strive to do it better. But if it can't be done then that will be our answer.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We provide Customer Service and Education. We listen to the customer when they are looking for systems that we offer. Price is based on what the customers request not what our sales people want to offer.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Working with people! I like to make customers feel that someone is listening to what they are asking. Low Volatge systems are things that we really like to see when the job is complete. We feel as good about our work as we hope our customers like what they see and hear.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. What is the difference between LCD, LED and Plasma TV's?
When you look at a TV you need to look at everything. We have TV's that are 720p and 1080p as well as TV's that are Plasma 600Hz and then you have LCD and LED that are 60Hz, 120Hz and 240Hz. The resolution of the TV is different for things like Cable and Satellite. They are runnung at 1080i and Blu-Ray disk players are running at 1080p so if you want to get the best resolution go with a TV that is 1080p. The Hz is up to the customer. Plasma TV's are really good buy's because they are cheaper and the Hz run at about 600 but the only draw back to them that we can see is weight. The LCD TV's are good and so are the LED TV's but they are going to be more money but there can be good things out of them and that is the depth of the TV. The LED TV's are going to be the thinest of them all. Some of the TV's can even be as thin as 1 1/2" so there is an advantage but there is a price to pay for that technology.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. We have to favorite story's that make us feel good about what we are all about.
1) The Mike Shanahan project. We were one of the companies that were involved in the wiring and installing of a complete Home Automated system at Mr. Shanahans home in Cherry Hills. This was a project that we took great pride in and it was finnished on time and looks and sounds great. This was a Elan Audio/Video system that we installed the TV's and helped in the termination and programming for the system. This system controlled the Audio, Video, Security and Lighting. We also install the first 103" Panasonic Plasma in the state of Colorado. What a rush it was to be involved.
2) The Pepsi Center where we ran the wiring for the Jumbo Tron as well as helped in the construction of the Jumbo Tron itself. This was a very long project as the wiring took 3 weeks and it was for the Sony Control Room to control all the systems that the Jumbo Tron could provide. We also ran wiring for several controlls around the Area for various devices. This was a great project the we were involved in as well and we had a great time doing it.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. This is simple and that is if you can dream it we can make it happen. Over the years system have changed and now we can do about anything that you can think of. The only thing that customers need to understand is there is a price involved with everything that you look at. We have been able over the years to get training on everything that we could think of to help our customers so we hope that this well help overall.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Well that is a good story. We started in 1995 as a Security company and we were fortunate to come on board with Listen Up Audio as a contractor and in the next few years we learned to set up systems that were second to none. So over the years we learned more and more and started to have builders like DR Horton, Writer Homes, Harvard Communities, Markel Homes and a few others see that we could provide a one-stop-shop for everything and then it started. We grew to where we are today 15+ years in the business and still today our focus is on the customer.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. Well really we are proud of all of our jobs. The Shanahan project was great and would have to be the most recent project that we did. But we put our heart and soul into every project that we do and that is why we get return business and referals from those customers.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. All the time. The most recent training was on the new Aton system that is a somewhat automated system with a low cost that the higher end systems. They provide customers to access different rooms of audio via wireless remotes so that retro fitting a home can be much easier. We have another training comming up for Lutron Radio Ra that is a computerized lighting system that uses the electrical lines that are wired in your home to turn on and off lighting and create sceens so you can hit one button and the house will light up from one location. But as you can see training is an on going thing to try to keep up with the technology that keeps comming out.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. Well the newest thing we are using is the Elan Home Automated system that is a complete home controlling system that you can control anything in your home. There are other systems like Crestron and AMX controlling systems that are much more money and do the same but if you are looking for the newest and greatest this is the system. We even can take a Ipod touch and program it to control this system anywhere in your home. We see this type of system being a up and comming system in the next few years and every years they add more and more to it's functions. TV's are changing as well we now have 3D TV's that are really cool but still a bit pricy but the tecnology is great. With what is out there now in TV's and Blu-Ray equipment is about the same but the Blu-Ray units and the TV's are now going with application for the internet like streaming Netflix and other thing with both wired and wireless technology.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. Well we have several projects going on each day. Some are small and then some are large. Like yesterday we had a install of a TV on a stand ($100.00). This took a installer one hour. Then we had a PC install (New Computer) that included installing a wireless system for three computers and doing a data transfer from the old computer to the new one ($250.00). This job was a four hour job for one installer. PC jobs can include just installing a new computer or maybe just transfering the files from one computer to say a new one. We have the equipment to make that happen. The other day we had a job that we went to a customers house and took down there flat panel TV's (5 of them) and then relocated them to another residence and hung them on the wall again ($875.00). We also conceal all the wiring in the wall to have a cleaner look for the installation. This was a 7 hour job with two installs. We look at each job and try to give the customer the best price for the service...

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. We look at a job customer by customer. Some of our pricing for TV installs are standard and can be seen on our web site (www.acousticalhomesolutions.com). Then others we like to do job by job since labor and equipment makes the job and we like to get you the best price we can. We do have hourly rates that range from $40.00 - $75.00 per hour based on what the job is. If you need just a service call per say we have a standard $75.00 for the drive time and the first hour.

Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?

A. Be prepared to take the time to learn everything you can. It has taken several years to get to the point that we are at and even now we are still learning. Just make sure that you get with a company that will teach you things that you need to know. We all don't have a handbook that tells you all these things but you need to understand that it all comes with a price and that is time. So if you want to get into a great field that you can learn the newest and greatest then this is the field to be in.

Q. Write your own question and answer it.

A. What type of equipment does your company offer?

We offer everything that you could ever want. We are a distributor for Denon, Yamaha, Pansonic, Sharp, Samsung, Speakercraft Speakers and Audio/Video Products, Aton Home products, Elan Home Automation Products, Air-Vac Central Vacuum Systems, Honeywell Security Products, Proficient Speakers, Monitor Audio Speakers and Equipment, Veladyne Sub Woofers, Sonos Wireless Speaker Systems and Much, Much More. If you want it we will find it and try to beat the price from any local company.
