Introduction

In over 15 years of teaching students of all ages and abilities I’ve found one thing to be true: we learn best when playing music we love.Everything I teach is applied to the songs you enjoy. It doesn’t matter if it’s Duke Ellington, Led Zeppelin, or Adele—the basic principles of music are the same. You’ll be introduced to new artists and genres, too, as we cover the history and geography of the instrument. While learning songs we'll build a solid foundation of classical technique combined with style-specific concepts like Travis picking, blues bends, and sweep arpeggios. We'll study theory to learn how music is organized and use that knowledge to sight-read, improvise, and write music. Finally, we'll work on performing songs to connect with an audience, be it festival crowds or a group of friends around a campfire.

Vic is great. My son really likes hip hop so Vic taught him to play a melody from a hip hop song on his guitar. Really keeps my son interested. He enjoys his lessons.

I have only had two half-hour lessons on ukulele, but have already learned a lot from Vic. He is knowledgeable, personable, prepared, on time, and able to explain well the techniques and principles of ukulele playing.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Lessons can be booked one of two ways: by the individual lesson or recurring weekly lessons. Single lessons are $65 per hour, with payment due when you book the lesson. Weekly lessons are a flat rate $220 per month for hours or $110 per month for half-hours.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
All new students start with a free trial lesson. This gives us a chance to see if I'm a good fit as a teacher and to plan a course of study to meet the students goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied music at the University of Colorado Denver and with teachers including Jimmy Bruno (guitarist for Buddy Rich), Richard Lloyd (of the band Television), and Barry Harris. I also perform with various bands, playing styles ranging from swing jazz to Celtic rock.
