Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Most commonly we see problems with viruses and other software malfunction. Usually a computer is not operating correctly on the software level.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Look for someone you trust. If you have a friend that does this type of work, and you know they do good work, then use them. It is very easy to go to someone with good marketing and get overcharged for simple services that may or may not be done correctly. A computer repair guy is a lot like a mechanic, use someone trustworthy who is good at their job.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Hourly rates can be deceiving when doing computer repair. If you leave your computer with a shop, they might only spend five minutes doing actual work, and charge you for three hours. Many times the computer sits on a desk running diagnostics while the "technician" charges you an hourly rate.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. 1) Computer type
2) Computer brand
3) Operating System
4) Computer specifications, i.e. ram, processor, etc.
5) A complete and detailed description of the problem including:
a) What you were doing when it happened
b) Details of how it happened
c) What happened afterwards

As much of this information that you can provide will be helpful.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We provide quality work in a professional and timely manner. We charge prices that are reasonable to the amount of work, and not based on an arbitrary numbers.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We love solving problems and helping people use their computers more efficiently.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Can you fix ______? and we reply "yes"

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have been working on computers since I was about nine years old. My dad is an IT professional, and taught me a lot about how to solve computer problems. I have kept this love as a hobby every since, and recently decided to make it a business. I love fixing any computer problem someone can throw at me.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. Our most recent job was for a friend that was unable to play .mp3 files in Windows Media Player. It took me 25 minutes to discover that the issue was a bad setting in her sound card driver. The cost for the job was $25 dollars.

Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.

A. Its not really complicated, but it is important to address how we price each job.

If the solution is known prior to actually doing any work, a specific quote will be given. Examples of this include: viruses, hardware, and any other problem that we have encountered before.

If the solution is not known prior to examination, a quote will be assessed based on the type of work needing to be done. We will give a diagnostic quote, and then additional work will be quoted as necessary.
