Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I provide counseling and psychotherapy to adults who feel "lost" and want to make positive changes but are unsure as to how to go about doing this.

My clients often report feelings of anxiety and uncertainty, feel disconnected or "robotic" in their everyday life, may have a history of abuse or trauma, are in unhealthy or unsatisfying relationships, want to resolve grief and loss, and feel "stuck" in their every day existence.

My clients seek to make changes and feel "alive" again. They are ready to do some challenging work in a safe, supportive therapeutic environment in order to feel better about themselves and live a better life.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be sure you feel comfortable with the potential therapist. The most important thing to create change in a therapeutic environment is the relationship between the therapist and the client. An atmosphere of trust is important as well as safety. Ask your potential therapist questions to help you evaluate whether or not he/she will be the right person to work with.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. In a safe and confidential office, I provide counseling and psychotherapy for men and women who actively want to change some aspect of their life. I use the proven method of EMDR as well as sandplay to compliment talk therapy. The client creates the goal in areas of their life that they want to change, and together we create a bridge to help move the client from where they are to where they want to be. Clients work on a variety of issues ranging from loss and grief (death of a loved one, death of a pet, divorce, loss of community status, empty nest syndrome, loss of a significant relationship, etc.) to resolving the lingering effects of abuse and traumatic experiences to wanting to be generally happy again.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I like helping people realize their potential and have "ah-ha" moments of clarity and understanding.

I am honored to be invited into my clients' inner world and help them navigate how to live their best life.

I am inspired when clients makes shifts and experience a new way of being in the world. When clients do this, they oftentimes are better parents, love their partners wholeheartedly, and love and accept themselves with greater depth than ever before. This transition is amazing to be part of, and I am often in awe of my clients' resiliency and resources.

I enjoy connecting to my clients in a therapeutic way and letting them know that they have a strong advocate in me regarding their well being.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. Q: How long have you been doing this?
A: Since 2008.

Q: Why do I do this?
A: I enjoy helping people feel better.

Q. What neighborhoods do my clients come from?
A: Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Centennial, Lakewood, Englewood, Greenwood Village, DTC, Castle Rock, Roxborough, Ken Caryl, Denver.

Q: What type of people do I see?
A: Women and men who are motivated to change but need some support and guidance as to how to get to their goal.

Q: What are some common issues my clients have?
A: I often see people who are feeling "stuck" and wish to change some aspect of their life. Some clients are struggling with low self-esteem, overcoming unresolved grief, striving to have healthier and meaningful relationships with others, as well as working through the effects of trauma and abuse.

Q: Do you use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)?
A: Yes; I use EMDR and my clients find it very effective to process trauma and feel "more alive and connected" to the present day.
