I just meet Alisha last Friday, 3/25, I found her on thumbtack.com- she showed up on time, was very pleasant, offered me 3 references before arriving, and most importantly my dog seemed very adjusted when Icame home last night! What a releif. It was my first time out of town away from her for 3 days and I had concerns. Alisha stopped by once a day and feed her and walked her. I will definately use her services again!!! Very affordable and reliable. Looking forward to learning more about her training too. Thanks Alisha

Mile High Dog Training and Pet Care Services is terrific!! Our little Abby (mini dachshund) is like a new dog. It's true! After Alisha worked with Abby we wanted to know, "who is this wonderful dog, what did you do with that silly do-whatever-she-wants-dog, and can we keep her?" Absolutely!

We began using Polite Paws this summer (2010) and have been very pleased. Our dog started suffering from aggression and we weren't sure if it was going to be fixable. After just 3 sessions with Alisha, we were seeing significant improvements with our dogs behavior and overall demeanor. Now, months later, we have our old dog back!

We started working with Alisha in early 2010 when we got Lucy, our new beagle puppy. This was our 2nd beagle and we knew we had some things that we wanted to specifically focus on in training her that we hadn't done so well with our 1st beagle.

We had done PetsMart classes before and been fairly satisfied with them. (Frankly, 90% of training your dog comes down to YOU actually working with your dog after the instructor shows you what to do! Having a great instructor also helps!). We did some Internet searching on dog trainers in the Littleton area and found Alisha/PolitePaws.
One thing that was very attractive for us was her willingness (& encouragement) to come to our house & train Lucy (& us!). It was very convenient, and we were able to include the whole family in the training which we found to be very beneficial. We did 1 or 2 lessons with her and then signed up for a group of lessons while Lucy was a puppy.

Lucy also developed a bit of an aggressive side (partly due to our 10-year old boy liking to rough-house with her), so Alisha agreed to work with her on that. While we had a responsibility to tone our 10-year old boy down in playing with her, Alisha was amazing at helping to channel Lucy's energy & attention and was very successful in helping us manage Lucy in this way and maintain a safe environment for our family.
The other key area that was a focus for us with Lucy was socializing her with other dogs (she's a bit of a "scaredy-dog"!). Alisha worked with us & Lucy on this too. She met us at different dog parks and worked with us/Lucy multiple times.

Alisha has also dog-sat Lucy several times. With our ongoing relationship with Alisha, we're very comfortable & confident that Lucy is in great hands and we trust her completely. She's become a friend of our family & she's a lot of fun too!

Alisha is also very affordable, especially with all of the 1-on-1 and personal attention that she provides! We've been super pleased with her and we would recommend her to anyone!

I want to send out coupons and discounts for training/pet care services as well as informative articles on pet health and behavior. You will never receive more than 5 emails per month and the testing phase will last until the end of April.

Question and answer

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I completely guarantee my work. I stand my my name and the company I created. Customer satisfaction is my number one priority. I want to leave customers feeling that everyone in the household is happy and satisfied.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I enjoy the variety my work provides. Every family is unique and I really enjoy the dynamic that brings. It keeps me on my toes!

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. I have a lot! Back when I use to teach group classes only, I had a dog who was going blind and was suffering from aggression. The more sight he lost, the more aggressive he became. We tried every possible training technique I knew. After about 6 months, when his sight was completely gone he turned into the sweetest dog. It was almost as if he was fighting his blindness, then finally succumbed to it. It's a bitter-sweet story.
