Question and answer

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. The most important thing a consumer can look for in a photographer is professionalism and portfolios.

Professionalism is very important, how well the photographer responds to customers, current and future, this can show what kind of a company you're about to hire. The last thing you want to happen is to hire someone and have them show up late, unprepared, not dressed properly or the worst, not at all.

As important or more important is samples of past work. Past work is a great indicator of future work, look at the lighting, the framing, look for something that is pleasing to you, don't hire a photographer hoping that they can match a style that you want if it isn't a style that they don't already do.

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Important information that clients should provide to a prospective photographer.

- How much time will the photographer need to be there?
- What kind of setup does the photographer need?
- What style of photographer are you looking for?
- Any special happenings during the event that the photographer can't miss?
- Have you prepared any sort of shot list?
- How would you like the photos to be delivered to you?
- Do you plan on having all the photos in high resolution or do you just need a couple?
- Would you like to get your own prints done or are you buying the prints through the photographer?

Plan on the photographer needing an extra hour, 30 minutes to arrive and setup and scope out the site, 30 minutes to break down.
