I contacted BookCrafters because I needed help getting my manuscript, in Microsoft Word, converted to software comparable with a yet unknown print-on-demand company.
The answer was “yes we can and here are several options on how to proceed.” Just what I needed. But there was more. Suggestions beyond the mechanics is what made my book perfect.
It was proof read. It has a beautiful cover. It has photos. It is the right size. It has the professional look that includes the bar code, ISBN, Library of Congress and other pertinent information I didn’t even know I needed. It has been promoted on various BookCrafters Internet sites including their Blog.
The relationship is ongoing. I call with questions and their suggestions continue to come to me.

I was looking for a publisher for the book I was writing, but most were really too expensive for me. I saw that Joe McDaniels was one of the
professionals recommended by Blurb. I looked at some of the books published by Joe and liked what I saw. Besides he was a photographer as well and would understand my needs.
I contacted Joe and we talked about what I had in mind for my book. He showed me my options, explained the costs, (which were great!) and explained what bookstores my book would be sold by.
The layout and design was great. The cover was amazing. When it was finished I went on Google and typed in the name of my book, "The Dwarf Chronicles - Dennis Blum, and to my amazement my book is being carried by bookstores around the world!!!
I have already recommended Joe and his company BookCrafters to other photographers and friends. I will be using BookCrafters again. They took the work and worry out of publishing,– Dennis

Jan and Joe recently published my first novel. They were fantastic to work with, friendly, helpful, available, and reasonably priced. I will use them again and again.

Thank you, Joe and Jan.
I have written my first book about my discovery of being dyslexic at age 51.
Being dyslexic and writing a book don’t often go hand and hand. I found “Book Crafters” through Blurb self publishing. I am thankful for the guidance they gave me in this process. There was always a quick response and when they gave me a time frame, they honored it. They provide clear cost break downs and a graphic artist who worked well with us. I have already recommend them to other writers and I suggest that if you are looking to self publish you take the time to talk to them. You will be pleased! I started working with them before I had completed my book. They helped in the writing process and we worked on the book for 5 months. I published February 14th 2012. I plan to work with them again with my next book. Cathy Cheatham – author of: I don’t say, “I can’t spell” anymore.

In 2010 I decided to write a book, had all the ideas on paper and suddenly realized; not really sure how to do this. I contacted BookCrafters and was delighted with the ease, professional and personal assistance that I was given.
I am planning another book and will not attempt it without calling BookCrafters first.– Dixie Lee
Question and answer

Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.
A. "Solitude Showdown" by Lee R. Atterbury (novel)

"Choices: Lemons or Chocolate" by Susan Flam (personal memoir)
All available on Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Fully discuss, upfront, costs and scope of work to be performed by you and your service provider. Generally speaking, the more thorough your own preparation, the less your costs should be. Don't assume that special "package deals" will offer you savings. Often they are more expensive.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. Look for personal service and the ability to retain all rights to your publication. Don't expect the "special packages" offered by many publishers are the least expensive or offer the best quality result.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. What is your market? Do you want a few copies for family and friends or do you want to promote and sell you book through multiple outlets and in various formats?
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. We published "The Dwarf Chronicles, " a wonderful history of California's Tule Elk, written by Dennis Blum and beautifully illustrated with many color photos and historical documents. Available on Amazon.com or view it on our bookstore at bookcrafters.net.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. Personal service and attention to detail. We can publish books for worldwide distribution both in print or as E-books. We offer P-O-D and wholesale order fulfillment.
