Introduction: I am a certified teacher with 32 years of working with middle and high school students. I have been sewing since I was a child, "sneaking" into my Mother's sewing room and sewing on her machine. I was very involved in 4-H, I took every sewing class that I could take in high school, I was in charge of the costume / wardrobe construction for our high school drama program, and I majored in Home Economics Education at Iowa State University, earning a Bachelor's of Science degree. I have sewn and performed alterations on prom and wedding dresses. I know construction from fabric to finished clothing. I am passionate about sewing, knitting, and crafting! It is fun to teach my passion to others, no matter their age. It is fun to help others bring their ideas to life.

My experience with Lionshead Thread well exceeded my expectations. Carol is a fabulous teacher! She is so kind and patient and goes above and beyond when it comes to helping her students. She gave me a super useful booklet as well a homemade pincushion to help get me started. My first lesson was two hours and the time flew by. Before the lesson I hardly know how to turn on my sewing machine. But by the end of it, I was able to wind a bobbin, thread the machine/needle, sew hems, AND sew seams! I am so excited to have a new-found hobby and to have the ability to altar my clothes by myself. The next lesson involves reading a pattern and making an apron from scratch. I can't wait! Thank you, Carol!

Carol was a fantastic instructor. She was extremely patient and knowledgable. She had some great ideas as we brainstormed together. She was very helpful in my struggles with sewing zippers and pillowcases. Though I've been sewing for more than thirty years, she helped me get over some obstacles. She also taught me some tricks with my sewing machine. I highly recommend her for any sewing instruction or sewing project. Thank you Carol and thumbtack for finding her!!!!

Carol is fantastic! She is patient and knowledgeable. It's great to accomplish so much with a project while visiting and enjoying her company. I am a complete beginner, but within two sessions I was able to complete a fairly complicated project that I am proud of. Highly recommended!

Carol was an absolute joy to work with! I hired to to teach my 8 year old to sew since I know nothing about it. She was very professional, always on time, and taught in a way that my daughter could understand. I would recommend her to anyone looking for sewing lessons.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I live between Conifer and Bailey, so my pricing will depend on the distance I need to travel to the client.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly reading about new sewing techniques and craft ideas. I have recently signed up for a Craftsy class on alterations. As a licensed professional educator, I have to constantly take continuing education hours and re-certify.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have recently retired after 32 years in education. I wanted to do something part time and pursue my personal interests.
