Introduction: At Kathy's School of Music, LLC, we provide music lessons for both children and adults. Our instruments include piano, voice, guitar, bass, drums, and violin. Children's Programs: Kathy's School of Music provides a nurturing environment for parents to introduce their children to music. Within our supportive community, students develop new skills and unique ways to express themselves through their lessons. Their teachers, who are experienced musicians themselves, provide inspiration and guidance in an intimate setting. Lessons have a relaxed and open atmosphere where learning is fun, challenging and creative. Beginner, intermediate, or advanced players are welcome. Adult Programs: At Kathy's School of Music, LLC, we recognize that people come from different walks of life with different needs; this is also true in our music education programs. With lessons in the comfort of your own home, you will have the opportunity to experience the joy of music with expert guidance. Studies include a range of topics that cover areas of musical development such as: - Performance, technique and interpretation - Music theory - Harmony and rhythm - Aural development - Memorization Lessons are held weekly, with assignments structured so as to make the learning process more of an enjoyable discovery of oneself and the art of music.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

I loved the piano from a young age, so this was a no brainer for me, personally. Since I was 4 years old, I took piano lessons weekly--and continued until I left home for college. At college, I double majored in both Music and Politics, and continued with my music career by obtaining a double masters in Musicology and Ethnomusicology. I even went to law school to study the legal side of music (copyright, entertainment law.) Upon graduation from law school and moving back to Connecticut, I immediately started forming my music school: chose a name, filed my LLC papers, advertised my company, hired music teachers, and that's that!
