I've known Josh Torres (aka Tico InDaMix) for
several years. I had the pleasure of mentoring
him as a DJ. He was quick to learn everyting
I showed him, and has gone on to very quickly
become an outstanding professional DJ with
his own distinctive style. He is extremely
creative and has a great personally. He
knows how to work a room, and has
excellent musical skills when it comes
to reading a crowd. In other words, he
always knows the right music to play to
get people up & dancing. Tico is equally comfortable of playing the club scene or
private events such as weddings.
Tico is a true professional that knows the
importance of preparation of all details
before working an event. Any couple would
be lucky to have him serving as their DJ,
for their "Special Day" !
I would love to take credit for his quick development as a DJ, but the truth is,
Tico is just a naturally gifted artist!!!
Sincerely,
Jaime Ziadie (aka DJ Z-BOP:)

I've been to several parties where this dj was spinning both formal and informal. He always keeps the crowd happy. Good range of music from classical and lounge to dance. Even downloads songs on the spot if you want to allow requests. I'd definitely use him again.
Has lights, lasers and fog or a more classical set up. Very professional. Everyone working with him was dressed appropriately: black suit and tie.

A. Many customers shop by price, looking for a bargain. While it's always nice to save money when buying something, shopping for a DJ should not be based on price. DJ'ing can be a profession but it can also be a hobby. If you think you're getting a good deal (ie a $200 DJ) you're most likely hiring some person who DJ's for a hobby and has no idea how to provide services for an event. One single great loudspeaker can cost more than $500, so ask for brands of speakers, is there a backup ready on the spot? has the music been acquired legally? (usually pirated music has lower quality sound). These things will give you a perspective of what the DJ is going to bring to your event. Furthermore, the DJ should be insured. Most states do not require a DJ license, so don't be fooled by the "fully licensed" statements some DJ's make. What does count, is for the DJ to belong to some type of recognized organization where he can be liable for bad service (ie American DJ Association, any local chamber of commerce).
This being said, it doesn't mean you have to spend a fortune. Be sure that the person you are dealing with is the actual DJ and owner of the company. Some "DJ" companies who sub-contract DJs will give you any DJ available, and even if the company has great ratings, the DJ they send you may not. This can also result in a higher charge since you're dealing with a middle man. Also, an owner of his company will not only be able to give you better deals, but also do the best he can to make you happy, after all, it's his own reputation on the line.
A. Anyone looking to hire a DJ should make an effort to know this things ahead of time to get the best possible service and the best match to their event.
Venue, name?, where is it?, is there a parking fee? who is the contact person for the venue? is there a stage? indoors or outdoors? are there stairs (DJ's carry lots of equipment, they need to know how many helpers to bring), are bathrooms nearby? what's the capacity of the place, how tall are the ceilings? will the venue charge the dj for use of electricity, how many people are actually expected.
Style, have you chosen your colors? are you providing the tables? do you want the dj's table in a certain color? do you want a theme of music?
Languages, will you need a bilingual dj?
Is someone going to give speech, will there be a lot of mic usage from other people.
Misc, will you provide the DJ with food and water?
A. To provide the most fun and memorable event for my clients so that they can enjoy their special day to the fullest. I will encourage your guests to have fun without becoming the center of attention. The wedding is about YOU not the dj.
