**If you're thinking about using Ed for your computer services DON'T!** I'm sitting here typing this after 5 months of frustration with a broken laptop worse off than it was when I gave it to him. For the past two months, Ed has been avoiding phone calls, messages, and emails; didn't show up to many appointments to meet up to return the laptop without answering his phone or letting us know otherwise; lost important parts to my computer without replacing them; and just today, I got the laptop back after he LEFT IT ON HIS DOORSTEP outside of downtown New Haven although I told him multiple times not to with no response. I'm just glad I decided to take a chance to drive by his place this morning to see if he left my property outside even though we replied to his email immediately telling him NO! The next time we see him will be in small claims court. The details: My husband, as a Christmas gift, decided to fix a cracked screen that I have been dealing with for months and decided to go to Ed after a successful visit with him previously. Back then he was responsive, affordable and we would have recommended him to any friend or family member! He had told Ed that I use this computer every day for work and I needed it fixed ASAP which he did; we had it within a few days. After receiving it, I noticed that the new screen was falling off so he brought it back to him to have it fixed again. Now these next 3 months were a lot of going back and forth between the company we bought the screen from (which was broken), waiting for money to be returned etc. But in late March, the new screen had arrived and it the computer was ready for Ed to fix (whom we paid months ago). After moving since January, Ed had told us that he had lost the bezel to my computer somewhere in the move, this included my camera. He told us that he would purchase a new one and fix it as soon as he can. Weeks went by and at this point we had to contact him for every correspondence. We asked him every few days if the part had arrived and sometimes we got a response and sometimes we did not. He had moved again in this span of time. Eventually he said that the part had gotten lost in the mail and ordered another one and we waited for another 3 weeks for it to arrive. By the time this part "came in" he told us that he had car troubles and was stuck in New Jersey for an undetermined amount of time. He had promised to give back the computer and the bezel that he ordered (and arrived while he was away, apparently) by Sunday May 22nd or he would give us a refund, which we should have demanded months ago. The day came and went with no response from him, no emails, no text messages, no calls, no refund. We were so fed up that we decided to just take the computer back, which he had promised that he fixed, on Thursday May 26th at 7:30. At 7:30, my husband arrived at his house and he was no where to be found. He called him multiple times, left voice mails, text messages, sent an email and even talked to someone else who lived in the building who said that we was home at some point today but left again. We received an email later that night saying that he didn't get home from New Jersey until 10:30 (which was a lie) and that he would leave the computer out on the stoop for us to get in the morning. We replied immediately NO because there was a good possibility that it would get stolen. He did not respond. We replied again asking if he got that email, no response. On a hunch that he decided to do it anyway, we went down to his building again this morning and there it was, sitting out in the open. There was no bezel in the bag, which makes us think that he had never ordered it in the first place and that he was dodging us for weeks because of whatever reason. It was in the exact same condition as we had last seen it 2 months ago. Ed did not return our calls, and ignored our messages and refuses to give us a refund. He emailed us later, ignoring the fact that we had been obviously upset for him leaving our property in the open and said that he had "returned the bezel" for whatever reason. 5 months, a broken computer, many headaches, a future lawsuit and a job that was paid for and a service not received. I'm not sure what is going on in his life right now, but it is definitely reflecting on his work. We will be taking him to court for returning my property broken and unusable. PLEASE, DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!
