FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Every job is different. I'm flexible with my pricing and I always keep labor and materials separate. That way you know exactly what you are paying for. I estimate the cost based upon time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm willing to try new tools or products, but experimenting on the job is risky. For example, not all primers are the same. There is a specific use for certain products. To be honest with you, there hasn't been much development in the past 50 years other than the formulas for paint.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
In the late 1970's, my neighbor owned an apartment complex that was rented to local college students. He needed help with repainting and repairs. I enjoyed fixing up the apartments that the students trashed. It was amazing to see the transformation right before my eyes. I took pride in that. Friends told neighbors and neighbors told friends, before I knew it, I was always called Mike the painter.
