I provide a results-oriented massage for people with pain and restricted range of motion. I utilize several modalities of massage, including my own -- kinesio massage (SM) -- to customize the session for what your body needs that day, as well as keeping in mind an overall plan to work out any imbalances in the body so you can work at optimum efficiency with no pain.

I also utilize kinesio taping, used by athletes in the Olympics to reduce pain and prevent or assist in healing with injuries. My clients appreciate that I am not afraid to get in there and do what needs to be done, and that when they get off the table, they have the ability to move more freely with less and often no pain.

This is not what most people think of as relaxation massage, though some do find it relaxes them. If this is what you are looking for, please feel free to schedule online on my website, or give me a call (contact information is below).

Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Know what you are looking for. There are many different types of massage therapists. some focus more on you energetic systems and some focus more on the physical body, some are very gentle and relaxing yet don't really work out all the issues in the body and some, like me, are meant to get to the root of chronic pain and/or injury but is not always very relaxing though it gets results. Try to find a therapist that meets your needs and when you go in be very vocal about what you want. Communication is key since massage is all about your body, don't be afraid to say what you need either before or during the massage.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. I am constantly doing something to further my knowledge and keep up with what is going on in my field and how the body works. I do continuing education a couple of times a year and I do research on the most recent studies and new methods a couple of time a week. Most recently I have been reading about fascia and what a huge impact it has on my work and the human body. This is important since it is not something that has been thoroughly discussed even within our field. It is very exciting stuff. Fascia and other connective tissue has always been presented as this benign tissue that doesn't play a huge role in the functioning of our bodies but it is infect very dynamic and plays a much larger role than we ever imagined. Research is just beginning to show how large a role. Massage is a great field because it is one of lifelong learning.
