I highly recommend Tere’s Spanish classes. I met with Tere one-on-one weekly and quickly increased my ability to understand the language due to our conversations about current events, culture, our friends and family, and all sorts of other topics. She conducted all classes in Spanish which helped train my ear each week. She was very willing to explain things when I had questions about grammar or nuance. Tere is extremely warm and committed to helping her students. No matter your ability, she patiently listens and corrects your responses as you converse. There is no doubt your Spanish will improve tremendously due to Tere’s teaching style. Thank you, Tere!!!

My husband and I have been taking Spanish lessons from Teresa in our home for over a year and recommend her highly. She is a wonderful teacher and a delightful person. We started from zero Spanish, but Tere's immersive approach quickly moved us to a level where we could communicate pretty well when visiting Spanish-speaking countries. Tere manages to somehow blend a very supportive style with attention to grammar and pronunciation. She is excellent!

I have studied with Ms. Almeyda for two years, and my daughter (age 11) has been studying with her for three years (she is still a student). My Spanish went from high-school textbook to a conversational level that helped me get along while visiting Mexico. My daughter attends a bilingual school and with Ms. Almeyda's tutoring, she was able to expand her fluency level beyond the classroom. Her conversational teaching technique is effective, and the activities she chooses reinforces vocabulary and tenses. For example, a lesson on "the kitchen" and "cooking" might involve making a traditional Colombian dish, with kitchen vocabulary and verbs (chopping, baking, mixing, etc.). Ms. Almeyda is a true professional and a lovely person, too. I recommend her for any age, and for any level.

She really seems to care about helping her students learn and she is flexible and skilled enough to work with each student at his or her level of skill. With Teresa, you will learn to speak Spanish quickly, and you will have fun! She is a very warm and interesting person, and a wonderful teacher!"

I enjoyed studying with you very much and feel that it was a good learning experience. One thing I appreciated about your classes was the attention that you paid to each of us, treating us as people and not just students. I also thought that you took great care with what you presented us, giving each thing a lot of thought.

Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Teaching Business Professionals
Teaching adult Professionals in different fields
Teaching small and big groups
Teaching one-on-one
Translating commercial and non-commercial documents
Teaching private classes at all levels
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. The first thing any customer needs to have in mind when checking for a teacher in the language he/she wants to learn is not just education and knowledge as not all the people who have chosen this field are good educators. Experience and methodology are two of the many things we have to take in consideration when we are seeking for a good teacher in foreign languages. These two characteristics are the most important as they define the knowledge and education the educator has. There are different ways of acquiring a language in the market today. To mention a few of them, we have by listening and repetition, material focused only in grammar, listening to songs, watching films and/or attending a class. The real way of acquiring a language is a combination of all these skills. Speaking about learning a language does not imply just learning how to speak, understand, write and read. It implies learning about the culture in its different aspects and understanding how people think and feel. You as a customer can only appreciate the importance of thinking and speaking in another language if you can feel the passion your instructor feels when he or she shares his/her culture with you.
You need to find the methodology that adjusts to your needs and interests. Not all the methodologies are for everybody. Communicative methodologies are the best ones as they teach you how to speak and think in the foreign language. Most methodologies today are focusing in this theme because it has shown great results. As you are going to encounter several instructors who use this kind of methodology, you need to focus in finding a teacher who is passionate about his culture and language. You will feel it. It is the way this person speaks and expresses his/her feelings and the attitude toward life and everything around it. How they sense life and how they transmitted to the others who are near them. I think this is the kind of instructor you need to have if you want to pursue a foreign language or actually any subject.
Find a teacher who creates challenges for you in the different levels of proficiency and who teaches you the tools to acquire all these skills of listening, speaking, writing and reading. An instructor who does not get embarrassed when needs to play with imaginary people and who uses different kind of activities that engage students and helps them in an easy way to reinforce what they have learned so they can feel confident in the use of it.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. What methodology do I use for teaching Spanish?
A communicative technique based on the conversation that begins on your first day of class. This means, that you learn all in Spanish and the methodology accommodates to your own learning pace. Customized scenarios are simulated to encourage the student to think and talk like a native speaker. Fun activities reinforce concepts and keep students engaged!

Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. Is learning Spanish fun and interesting?
Yes. Learning Spanish opens up lots of opportunities to have more fun. Who doesn't enjoy reading a good book or watching a good movie? Music? You bet! Food? The best! The satisfaction of accomplishment? It's there waiting for you to grab it! Learning Spanish can be one of the most enjoyable things you will ever do. Whether your motivations are practical, intellectual or sentimental, learning Spanish is something that will benefit you for the rest of your life!
Q. Write your own question and answer it.
A. How long does it take for someone to achieve some level of fluency (and not just knowledge), if that is their goal?
Learning a language implies studying several levels. A language proficiency is divided in four. Elemental proficiency, intermediate proficiency, advance proficiency and fluency. Every language center or institution has its own methodology and its own program of study. The book determines the amount of hours and week it takes to accomplish the objectives in the target language. Learning a language depends not only in the instructor but in the amount of time the student puts on it. Reaching an intermediate level, the student needs to study approximately 90 hours before getting to this level. The smaller the group the faster they can advance. Students can also advance when they have a same level of proficiency.
For someone who learns in a native country it will take from six months to a year to speak fluently the language. It means that the person will speak with confidence and recognize his/her own mistakes. Able to realize own mistakes is one of the tools to truly progress.
