A. The most common jobs we handle are Weddings and private events. We do host/Entertain for Bars, pubs, and public events but primarily the private events such as weddings, fundraisers, school dances, birthday parties, holiday parties, open houses, grand opening etc.
A. I advise that before booking a DJ you go through all the vital information, basically a DJ can carry out any event on a whim but to fulfill a customer’s desire for such service we need to visualize what the customer is looking for. If a DJ does not have a lot of questions about your event or what you’re looking for then chances are you may not get what your paying for. Do some research and check the referrals, be prepared to "paint a picture" so to speak, and if you have any questions feel free to ask. If a DJ is never available, yes they may be very busy, but they are also not taking the time to be there for you! Communication is a crucial part of the success of your event and our line of work.
A. Every consumer should ask the following questions:
*How long have you been in business? (The years in business will express the years experience and provide you confidence in the quality of their work)
*Are you licensed? (If they are a legit and legal business they must hold a business license)
*Do you use contracts to book your gigs? (if they don’t, then your money as a consumer is not protected)
*What do you need from me? (asking this question ensures that both you and the service provider are on the same page as far as expectations)
*Do you have references? (if they are a quality service provider they WILL have references, if not then chances are they did not do the greatest job and may not hold the quality that they have expressed or advertised)
A. One of the things that I have experienced with a lot of clients that request service quotes, is that they have only thought of having a DJ, not necessarily what kind of music they want to have the DJ play, Announcements, standard tradition dances, etc. Some DJs only play a select or hand full of genres; so someone looking for Spanish music for example may hire a DJ, spend time going through the plans and then find either beforehand (and a deposit is paid) or when it’s too late that the DJ you hired is a hip-hop/R&B DJ only. This is the reason before giving a quote I ask the question "What genre are you looking for?" If I don't carry that selection then I’m sure one of the DJs in my network do and I can still complete your request and provide an accurate quote and give you the BEST DJ for your event.
A. I love everything about my job, from sales, to marketing, to operating, planning, executing and entertaining for events. It is a strong passion of mine since I was a kid. I was pushed to follow my dreams not someone’s foot steps and this is just what I have done. I could not ask for a better profession. I enjoy everything about this industry.
A. I hosted/DJ for a wedding a few years ago; a young happy couple. The brides grandfather was in attendance but elderly and sick. This man walked with a walker and someone holding him up wherever he wanted to go. (he spent most of the time at the table). When I saw him staring out on the dance floor I played a little old “Glen Miller Band” a big band selection of mine. This man got out of the chair and walked holding on the backs of the table chairs to the bride and asked her to dance, he walked with no walker, just holding on to the bride and moved to the dance floor, as friends and family of the bride and groom surrounded them I played a Kenny G – The moment. Everyone was crying in shock including the bride, only her grandfather pushing 90’s or so was smiling and did what little he could to move his legs and hips from side to side to dance with his granddaughter on her wedding day. – This was a very touching moment and I will never forget this event.
A. Some consumers think that we just show up and play music. This would be a fact if we were a fly-by-night or inexperienced DJ. At Entertainment Factory we want to be prepared and ready to make your event memorable, flawless is our goal. To execute this we plan weeks to months in advance sometimes meeting the clients ahead of time, grasping and idea of what selection types they are looking for or desire to have and build a set list based on that. That takes time, so yes playing for 4, 5, even 6 hours at your event, about 5-6+ hours of planning, phone calls, meetings, emails, paperwork, travel, set-up, and even break down. A typical 4 hour basic event will take an average of 9-10 hours of time. Granted we cannot predict a crowds taste and yes at times some planning may be tweaked to fit the crowd and allow everyone to enjoy the event, we still want to be prepared and ready for each individual customer, customized to exceed their particular expectations.
A. I decided to get into this line of work and open my own entertainment and event service company because of my passion for this industry. I love what I do and I feel that it is vital to love what you do to be successful in this line of work. It’s not all about showing up and getting paid, it’s about the customers experience, the guests experience, the passion of what I do and the satisfaction I get from making someone’s visions a reality.
A. We have launched our new program and are currently planning and hosting events to raise awareness and funds for local shelters and organizations against animal abuse, neglect and abandonment. More information about this program can be found on our website.
A. I believe my biggest strength is my passion for what I do. I love music, I love excitement, I love to DJ and I love planning parties all aspects of it is like an addiction that I have had since a little kid. I live, eat, and breath this work, being an entertainer that makes everyone have a fun time from the lighting to the music to the dance floor, to the food, decorations everything it’s something I can’t express the amount of passion and I think this being the most important and greatest strength. If you’re not having fun and you’re the entertainer, how are you going to motivate the crowd to do so? This is what I love, so this is what I do.
