Survey findings and summary
Thumbtack.com, in partnership with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, has released the new results from the second annual Thumbtack.com Small Business Survey. The 2013 study draws upon data from over 7,000 small business owners nationwide and shows that Florida slipped slightly, dropping from a 'C' overall grade in 2012 to a 'C-' this year. Many other grades stayed the same, though Florida did improve in several categories.
Some of the key findings for Florida include:
- Florida earned a 'B+' for its business-friendly tax code, and business owners noted the relative ease of understanding and filing taxes in the state. Florida also earned a 'B' for the ease of starting a new business in the state.
- Among major cities nationwide, Jacksonville was Florida's top performer with a 'B-'. Miami was the state's lowest ranking, earning a 'D'.
