Introduction: The Durig Discovery Method developed by Julia Durig is a play-now, practice-while-you-play system that encourage creativity and makes it possible to play after one lesson.
It was designed to take the mystery and drudgery out of learning to play the piano, organ or guitar. Because it is a method of discovery instead of a repetitive process, it makes learning exciting and lets people think things through instead of memorizing facts and being bored. This unique teaching program leads the student to discovering music instead of having it imposed upon them.
Working from the understanding of music, rather than just playing, means that students learn essential theory and harmony. Focusing on music to suit their tastes makes it possible to see the immediate application of the principles. A passionate woman whose teaching has stretched across the globe to individuals of all different backgrounds and races.
Mrs. Durig, a native of New York, has successfully taught the Durig Discovery Method in Connecticut, Minnesota, South America and her current home in Boca Raton, Florida. She has taught her method to over 6,450 students, from 12 states, from Canada and South America, and aboard three cruise lines. She has taught young and old, from beginner to professional in classical, popular jazz and sacred modes.
