I can't thank Merle enough for the excellent work he performed in my home. His helpful tips and advice not only improved on my ideas but saved me enough money that I was able to have much more done than I had hoped to. His precision in hanging closet doors, shower doors, blinds, etc. absolutely amazed me. He can't be beat when it comes to painting ... even coats, beautiful precise lines, no drips or messes on the carpet -- believe me, I'm a perfectionist, so I appreciate excellent work. He is timely in getting the work done ... in short, he does what he says he will do and much more. that is not a quality that is easy to come by. I highly recommend him. He has done all kinds of things for me like plumbing, installed a new hot water heater, etc. I will continue to use him for all my home service needs. Thanks Merle. You do deserve the "outstanding" rating.

I have known Merle for about 5 years. During that time he has completed many home improvement projects for me.I can count on Merle to complete my projects economically and effeciently. He has an artist eye and it is reflected in the projects he does. He has saved me lots of money including about 7000 dollars on a plumbing job that he was able to correct the for about 200 dollars. He has a key to my house and I trust him to work there when I am not at home. I recommend Merle without reservation.

My realtor suggested Merle after a tenant moved out leaving a mess. He was prompt, nice and had the know how to get it in shape fast. He did a great job patching, painting and repairing holes, walls, doors, windows, screens, cabinets and plumbing. He is now my go to guy.

Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. The most common jobs that I do are garbage disposals, New faucets, Drywall repairs, new light fixtures. Ceiling fans, wood fence repairs, painting interior/exterior, wallpaper removal, valve replacements or repairs, screening, shower doors, door frames, tile repairs, bi-fold door installation or repairs, toilet repairs or replacements, bathroom vanity's, all types of minor plumbing, dishwasher replacement, under cabinet microwave replacement, and a whole lot more.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Ask questions on the services that are to be performed, time it will take, what is involved, what is needed to do the job correct. Ask any question you can think of to make sure the person that you are asking to do the job is actually capable of doing a quality job. I love questions and I love sharing the knowledge that I have spent a lot of years learning. if you don't feel good about a service person then you really shouldn't use them. Always remember you worked hard for what you want done so get it done right the first time.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. If I was the customer I would love to know why some prices are way to low and some are way to high. For example painting anybody can paint but what do you know about the paint why is one gallon $10.00 and another one $30.00 its because what is in the paint the fillers used the glue etc. what is acrylic and what is 100% acrylic? Acrylic is the glue or bounding agent in the paint it is what makes it stick and stay its a very flexible bounding agent and will give you years of satisfaction. What does a primer do? How long can I have it on my wall before it loses its property's ?Primers seals a wall so your paints stay on the wall and doesn't soak in but primers are short lived once you put most primers on a wall they need to be painted within 72 hours or it will start to loose its property's. I have found out over the years that reading about products calling the 800 numbers and asking questions was not only valuable to me but to the people i perform work for. The only dumb question is the one we don't ask .
Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?
A. Do as much research as you can before you talk to anybody. You know what you want done the Internet is a very valuable tool. By doing a little bit of research in advance you can ask the questions that need to be asked. If the service professional can't answer them then they are not the right one to do the job. If a person likes to talk about what they do and can educate you on whats involved its a pretty safe bet that they know what they are doing. Always remember if you could do it you probably would so ask any question that you want about the project you want done. We may not be able to answer all of them but we should be able to answer most of them.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. Is this some thing that I really want done? Is it some thing that will add value to my property ? Can I afford to have it done correctly. You should think threw all projects before you decide to do them. Do your research is this the paint colors I want? Are these the bathroom or kitchen faucets I really want. Look at all the parts and prices first. Some times you might have to wait a little longer to be able to afford what you really want but in the long run it can be very satisfying to have what you have really been dreaming of don't settle for second best just because you would like it done now.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Why does my work stand out from others? Because I take a lot of pride in what I do. I believe that if you are going to do some thing do it right it might take a little longer but its the end results that matter. I love having customers telling me what a nice job I've done and I really know how much they appreciate it when they tell a friend. When I work on things I work on them as if they were mine I don't wand second class work done so I don' t do second class work. When I'm done and I'm happy with what I did I know you will be. When you love what you do the out come will show it.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The thing that I love the most out of what I do is every day I learn some thing different I get to meet new people and make new friends. I love working with my hands every job has a different little twist to it. Its a lot of fun its like putting a puzzle together you have to think about it. I love seeing what I started with and what it is like when its done. I think that I actually get more satisfaction on a job well done then my customers. When I finish my projects and I think to myself what could I have done that would of made this better and I can not think of anything then I can go home a very happy man.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. One of my favorite questions that people ask me is how come I know so much on painting? My answer is because I read whats on the can I watch shows that will teach me different things products change every day I never get tired on learning why things work in different ways and I never get tired of passing on to people what I have learned. When you can educate a person on why they would want to spend more money on a can of paint or anything else you might do for them then you have done part of your job. The rest of your job is doing it correctly. I always remember that any question asked is important.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. My favorite story is a Lady that I have done a lot of work for keep on telling me Merle your not getting any younger you do really good work your not the quickest person out their but the difference between you and them is you do it correctly you don't get in a hurry you just do it right. I have worked for a lot of company's that charged a lot more than I do and all they cared about was getting that check. I finally listened to what she keep telling me and I found out she was correct (besides the old part) The check is only a small part of the reward the greatest part of the reward is knowing you did the job the best of your ability and the smile and the genuine thanks at the end is the greatest reward of all.
