I reached out to have my door frames sanded down, filled with putty and painted as my cat scratched them and we are in the process of moving out. I sent pictures of a bunch of the damage including the worst ones. It was extremely easy to schedule an appointment. He contacted me and wanted to change the date, as he wanted to know why we wanted the work done on a Sunday. We were busy on Saturday, but I kept in contact with him and let him know when we would be home. He said he’d meet at that time. He didn’t show up until an hour or so later. We were just packing that night, so it was ok. When he arrived, he said that he could use putty as the frames had grooves and weren’t flat. I let him know that I’ve had to fix similar door frames and had someone else fix similar ones in the past, and putty was used to fill the cracks. He disagreed, and lightly sanded them only. The frames looked terrible when he asked me to check the upstairs. He sanded, painted and caulked them. But the grooves were all showing. They were in bad shape. I thanked him for his time and let him know I appreciated him trying to, however, they were not repaired well enough and I’d have to have them redone. I went to pay him, the work was estimated at $50/hour on thumbtack. No other price was provided by him. It was under 2 hours, so I tried to confirm that it was $100, and he said that he paid $160 for the job and I could pay him anything over that. I asked what he thought was fair. I explained that he didn’t do what needed to be done, I submitted pictures and if he wasn’t able to complete it, he shouldn’t have accepted the job. He should also be clear on pricing if it’s over what thumbtack estimated. I paid $160 through the app so I had a paper trail. I called someone in two days later, he spent 3 hours (plus an hour break to allow the filler to dry), he had to sand off all of AV’s work, used a plastic wood filler, painted and caulked them all. You can’t even tell my cat scratched them at all!! It cost $125 to have it done. In the future, he needs to have better communication regarding pricing and if he doesn’t know how to complete a task, you tube it, see if he can do it, or decline the job. He is a nice man, and I hope his skills and communication increase to help his business.

Hired to install a light fixture but the light fixture wasn’t installed correctly. The metal bracket was missing and the glass thrown away in pieces in the trash. When I asked him about it, I was told there was no glass pieces. When I sent him pictures he offered to “fix it” yet no idea where the bracket for the fixture went. Our kitchen faucet also was installed incorrectly and had to hire someone else to fix that. Also had to buy another light fixture since this was broken with multiple pieces missing. Disappointed as he is very friendly! Unfortunately I would not trust him with any handyman work.
