Question and answer

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Be sure the officiant is someone that you feel comfortable working with -- after all, they will be saying some of the most important words you'll be hearing in your entire life! Make your wedding ceremony something that is customized to the two of you, and not a "same-old, same-old" ceremony. Choose an officiant who you feel really cares about the two of you, and is willing to customize your ceremony to your wishes. After all, your wedding ceremony is the beginning of your married life together -- get it off to a great start! Choose your officiant wisely, and you'll always remember your wedding with a smile and a happy memory!

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. I wish that couples would realize that their wedding ceremony is something to be cherished and treasured -- and realize that all of the preparations, such as dress, flowers, etc., are really for the ceremony. Therefore, the wedding ceremony should be the focus of wedding preparations. The right officiant can "make or break" that special time. Money alone should never be the sole determination when choosing a wedding officiant. The personality, professionalism, and organization of a wedding officiant makes a HUGE difference in your wedding day. You only have one wedding day -- if you must skimp on something, it should not be on your officiant -- they set the mood for your entire celebration!

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. 1) Will you work with us on a ceremony that is what WE want it to be? Are you flexible and understanding of our desires?
2) Will you make suggestions as to different types and styles of ceremonies and let us choose what we like?
3) Will you spend as much time as it takes to make sure our ceremony is what we want it to be?
4) Will you meet with us in person so that we can see if we're a "good fit?"
5) Are you open to our ideas and wishes?
6) How much experience have you had in the type of wedding we'd like to have?
7) Will you arrive early on the day of our wedding to be sure that everything is in place for our ceremony?
8) Can we include our guests in our ceremony if we so desire?
9) Do you have photographs and/or referrals from couples you've served?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. 1) Do we want a female officiant?
2) Do we want a secular officiant?
3) Is being comfortable with our officiant important to us?
4) If the officiant we really like costs a little more money, are we willing to pay her for it?
5) Do we want to have a wedding ceremony that we work with the officiant on, or do we want a standard ceremony?
