A business owner by profession and a valuable consultant to existing businesses. I am also a professional writer, artist and photographer. At 56 years old my life's work and business expertise encompasses sales, marketing, PR, advertising, business consulting, communications, editing, routing, deliveries, and field work. SUMMARY OF SKILLS Self-starter with an endlessly creative mind and proven ability to build a business from my ideas. Art, writing, photography. Love working with people and have always had a great understanding of, and rapport with, customers and their needs. Deeply charity minded. I create and include a charitable product or service in each business I own. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Age 8 I began to do charity work. Age 8 I started my first of many small businesses I operated throughout my school years to support my charity work. Grades 1-12 I was a gifted artist. My art class creations won school awards and went on to hang in art shows in town. I was a promising actress. At 16 I was offered the chance to star in a play with a traveling summer stock group. In Church and throughout school I was a Soprano in the choir and/or was the lead singer. Age 14 I designed and created my own style of clothes and jewelry and was commissioned to design clothes and jewelry for local customers who enjoyed my creativity. Age 16 I sold my first article to 16 Magazine. Age 17 I was voted into IPA. With an IQ of 145 I passed a Mensa test, but did not join Mensa. A recent IQ test revealed an IQ of 172. Age 23 The late and great Dr. Norman Vincent Peale was so moved by one of my human interest articles in Grit Magazine that he asked for, and received, my permission to read the article to his radio audience. Age 30-40s I owned several businesses in which advertising, sales, marketing, PR and/or business consulting was the base operation. As a professional writer and photographer I created two magazines and were their owner/editor/publisher. I received a letter of Thank You from the State for my JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS plea I continually ran in one of my magazines. I also received a letter of ThankYou for my work on one of the States Festivals. As a business consultant I aided an oilman in Abilene, Texas who was failing at his attempt to pioneer the areas first independent Yellow Pages book. I changed the method for deliveries, corrected the financial and sales problems in his current mode of operation, created amusing advertising to generate interest in the project and devised the routing for the delivery of the books. The book was a huge success and the expanding company was bought several years later by Hearst. While in Abilene I also aided the owner of a chain of low profit video game arcades named Fantasy World. Taking over Management of the Abilene arcade I was able to devise and innovate the way an arcade should be run to maximize profits and attract more customers. My ideas and creation of the Fantasy World Record Board to draw customers was highly successful and due to tripling profits, was implemented in each of the owners other arcades. In Albany, GA I aided the owner of a publication titled Penny Power. The owner wanted to sell the publication, but could not generate interest from buyers. I created a one inch banner ad to run at the top of the pages of the publication. For $25.00 any business could have top page recognition by telling what they liked about Penney Power and how advertising in it had boosted their sales. As intended, several weeks later the ads attracted a buyer. I also created and operated LOVE-A-DATE? the first ad and answer dating service in the local paper in Abilene. Age 30-40s As a dedicated Air Force spouse I received merits for my services to the Military. In the magazines I owned during Desert Storm I united area businesses to run a monthly page of our prayers for those serving overseas. In the Country of Panama after Just Cause, and pregnant at the time, I volunteered to help guard the base from hostiles by joining the K-9 handlers on their walking patrols each night. During the day I worked on uniquely landscaping our base house which won an award for my husband and I from the Base Commander for having the best yard on the base. Upon retiring to Florida in 1996 I have been working with the RCS in Clearwater by providing stuffed animals for the children of battered women seeking protection and shelter at The Haven. RSC has given me a letter of recommendation for my work. 50s With my children grown I returned to owning businesses. I was an independent vendor for the St Pete Times and later for the Tampa Tribune. I now own two online businesses.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

When looking for services from someone in our business nothing speaks louder or gives more proof of what you will be receiving for your money like examples of past work. Do they have the "fine art" touch or creativity you are looking for? Are they versatile with a wide range of abilities or do they only focus on one or two areas of expertise? In example, as photographers do they only shoot weddings and as writers do they only write business reviews? This would be wonderful if you are looking for a wedding photographer or a business review writer, as that is their specialty, but you may want to reconsider asking them to shoot and/or record or write something out of their comfort zone and expertise as shooting a horse race or writing a romantic poem. They may agree to do it, only to find they didn't understand or realize the complexities involved and were regrettably unable to accomplish quality photos or writing. In the case of one chance only shots, as with a wedding, you want to make sure you have the right person for the shoot. Do they have the proven ability to produce the quality you will expect for your money? When reviewing a photographer are they creative, and more importantly, are they artistic? Anyone can take a camera and point it and shoot. You will have a photograph, but is it one worth viewing time and time again? The difference between "anyone" and a professional artistic photographer is the ability and creativity to shoot photos that have you saying OMG these are awesome! When reviewing a writer does their work seem mundane or does it move you? Do their words speak to you? In closing, I’ll say it again, look at their past work. Review it thoroughly. Is it artistic? Is it creative? Does it make you say OMG the creativity and artistry in their work is above everyone else that has been reviewed? Sadly, if their past work doesn’t impress you then it’s likely their future work which they would be doing for you won’t either.
