Question and answer

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. Roofing, remodeling, additions, even small repairs. We do not turn away work just because the project isn't a high priced job.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. Never hire a contractor that cannot verify that he/she is the contractor listed on the license that he/she claims to carry.

Never hire anyone that cannot verify insurance coverage.

Get a draw schedule from contractor and stick to it. Never give more money until the job being done is up to the point of the next draw schedule description.

Always get contracts in writing and get copies of licenses and insurance documents.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. There are a lot of fly by night contractors out there. Not really contractors just con men. They do not possess a license and they will come in and ask you for your money and never return to do the work. Always get signed contracts and verified license and insurance documents before giving any deposits.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. Can you verify that you are a licensed contractor?

Do you sub out your work and if so are they licensed also?

Can you discuss the process of the work that will be done to my property?

Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?

A. Are you ready to proceed? We are not here to waste your time so please be ready to proceed within a reasonable time.
Do you have the funds available to proceed with this project? Contractors cannot carry your projects for long periods of time while you try to obtain more funding. The suppliers and subs will put liens on the properties they are working on to ensure that they get payment for their services.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. We are professionals and our work will demonstrate that. We pride ourselves on our work and our finished projects are what gets us more more work in the future. Word of mouth can help you or hurt you. We prefer good praises and not bad ones.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. Meeting new people. The challenges of each job. There is always something new unlike working behind a desk.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. How long will this take? Depends on the job and the permitting process.

How much will this cost? Depends on the project but we are very competitive in our pricing. We may lower our prices but never our quality or service.

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. We are not the criminal type that we read about or see in the news and not all contractors are that way.

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. Jesus was a carpenter. I guess it can't be all bad. I love making people's dreams a reality. I like to create and build with my hands.

Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?

A. All contractors are required to do 14 hour continuing education classes every two years to learn new codes, safety and new ways to do things. Without this a contractor will not receive a license.
