I am a graphic designer who has been in the field for 10 years, and am always looking for new ways to expand my level of expertise.
I started my career as a production artist in Long Island, New York, and have steadily moved forward. I've been designing everything from business cards, letterheads, promotional flyers, logos, CD, album covers, birthday cards and invitations, and much, much more.
Over the last few years, I've developed my Photoshop retouching skills. I've since worked on dozens of models, ranging from the petite to the plus sized, from children to sports photos, and just about anything under the sun. So when it comes down to it, I love what I do, and that I believe, is what makes the difference in the work I put out.
So please feel free to text, call, or email me. Or even better, check my Facebook page for my samples, and other work I've done.
Thank you and good luck in everything you do.
Question and answer
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Just Sr. Lead Production Artist.
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. When looking for a designer, be aware of the people who design something for you, by using an example of what they did for someone else. Understand?
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. The only secret I could possibly share is to always be on your toes about everything and anything. Don't be ashamed to ask questions about something you don't know about.
Another tip: always bargain shop. Find out when designers who run thier own shop, open up for the day. That is always the best time to ask questions.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Where I currently live there are a few designers who have been designing things for many years, but I've noticed the same thing about them all. They've gotten lazy, they have found ways to do what they do quicker.
So basically they all work on the "Quantity over Quality" motto. I'm completely opposed to this. I believe in giving people options that they themselves never even thought of. I don't just sit there pull up a bunch of shapes and colors and tell the client to "Pick which one you like." I fall back on the old school montra, "Treat Them Like How You Want To Be Treated." With this, I never fail at what I do.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. Being able to put together something for a client, and watching their face light up as they see the end result.
It's usually an Awesome Feeling.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. A common question is, "What Can You Do?"
My answer for that usually is, "Where does your thought of what you want stop?" "You let me know what it is, and I will find a way to go past it."
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. I needed a job that was going to help me be more independent. I found the Production Artist position, and basically went in, and made it work. At the time I knew very little if anything at all, about the work I was doing. But as I worked I began to enjoy my work. I soon became very diligent in my work, and have enjoyed it since.
Q. If you have a complicated pricing system for your service, please give all the details here.
A. My prices range from $20-$25 per hour for designing.
Most designs will have a basic charge of about $75 - $100.
It will only cost more if the design becomes complicated, and there are a lot of changes made to it.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. In order to do or perform this line of work, you need to have a few things.
1. Patience
2. Understanding.
3. Technical Savvy
4. A Good Computer
5. Spare Time
6. A Budget To Upgrade That Computer
7. And The Wilingness To Let Yourself Enjoy What You Do.
